 Offer Profile
S.A.Robotics provides innovative engineering solutions to complex problems in difficult radiological and other hazardous environments. Our expertise is primarily driven by our ability to create fast track design and fabrication solutions tailored to our customer’s needs. We excel in decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) and in waste management areas. The majority of our projects and products are designed to be used remotely to address the safety requirements of our customers.

 Product Abstract
Manipulators
S.A.Robotics specializes in the design and construction of custom robotic manipulators. Our engineering and fabrication staff have extensive experience in building custom manipulators constructed from high tech materials, pushing the envelop with the limitations of robotic manipulators.

S.A.Robotics’ patented designs and equipment are built rugged and field tested in the most extreme conditions imaginable. S.A.Robotics is the industry leader in the use of composite material design and fabrication of long reach high payload remote manipulators. These arms and manipulators, built from advanced materials have a far more extensive reach and higher payloads than traditional alloy manipulators.

Our robotic arms and remote manipulators are also equipped with an array of quick disconnect end effectors and specialty tooling to accomplish any task, anywhere, including underwater applications.
Long Reach/High Payload Manipulators
S.A.Robotics has developed a wide range of remote manipulators and robotic arms that can be readily adapted for operations in hazardous environments in both underwater and dry applications. Previous projects have allowed workers to safely remove and process hazardous materials both in underwater and dry applications.
Short Reach/Ultra High Payload Manipulators
S.A. Robotics designs and fabricates short reach, ultra high capacity remote manipulators to support decommissioning and decontamination efforts in underwater and dry environments. These ultra high capacity manipulators have been used as part of a Remote Manipulator System to remove and process materials in radiation fields up to 40 R/hr.
Extreme Temperature Manipulators
S.A.Robotics developed an Extreme Environment/Temperature Remote Manipulators or Removable Boiler Blasting System (RBB) that can be readily adapted for operations in high temperature and extreme environments.
Powered Remote Manipulators
S.A.Robotics' Powered Remote Manipulators (PRMs) are extremely maneuverable, light weight, high capacity robotic arms that are suitable for a wide range of remote handling applications.
Remote Camera Systems
The S.A.Robotics Remote Camera System is a color video camera system deployed by a robotic arm that is remotely operated. The robotic arm can be inserted through a four inch opening and it can be ordered in different lengths to accommodate the application.
Integrated Control Systems
S.A.Robotics utilizes Integrated Control Systems on all turn key systems. All control systems are custom designed to meet exact customer demands for each system. Designs comply with NFPA 70 and 79, and the panel shop is UL-508A certified.

Description

Gloveboxes
Gloveboxes and Support Systems
Includes Cascading Ventilation Systems and Airlock Systems
Glovebox enclosures, containment systems, and system/component integration for nuclear, hazardous chemical, radioisotope, pharmaceutical applications.
Reach-In Decontamination Gloveboxes
Designed for the decontamination of glovebox internals using chemical decon solutions
Decontamination Containment Systems
Inner Tent Demolition Chambers
The Inner Tent Chamber (ITC) is a self-contained glovebox designed to size-reduce contaminated equipment, primarily gloveboxes, and to provide packaging capability. The ITC provides workers with various tools to complete their size-reduction activities from outside of the structure.
Waste Handling and Processing
Process Filtration, Solid Separation, & Waste Packaging
Process systems for dry and underwater environments
S.A.Robotics has significant experience designing process filtration, solid separation, and waste handling equipment.
Waste Drum & Container Handling Systems
Remotely move and locate loaded waste drums
S.A.Robotics has provided handling systems for the nuclear industry to handle various sizes of waste containers. Currently S.A.Robotics has developed handling systems specifically for three types of containers: SWB’s, 55 gallon drums, and 85 gallon drums.
Decontamination Wash Stations
Washing systems for dry and underwater environments
The Decontamination Wash Station automatically washes components using water at 5,000 psig. The Wash Station’s high pressure capability removes scale, rust, and contamination. It operates equally well in either dry or submerged environments. The Wash Station is operated from a remote control panel. Opening and closing the lid is accomplished from the control panel and then, with the push of a button, the wash cycle runs automatically.
Crawlers
Working jointly with Colorado State University, S.A.Robotics helped develop a small, lightweight walking robot designed to traverse a rubble fields for victim identification and location in support of search-and-rescue operations. A prototype walker was designed with six rotating cam-like legs. The unit was constructed of carbon fiber and carried a lithium battery pack for power. At a national competition, the crawler outperformed traditional track crawler machines in mobility, traveling much farther than the tracked robots in the competition. Based on the success of this device S.A.Robotics is developing the next generation of the robot for actual deployment.
