MELSOFT-Software
Powerful integrated programming tools
Faster program development time and simplified system installation and setup - these are two of the most basic demands for today's industrial automation solutions.

Mitsubishi developed the new MELSOFT concept to achieve these objectives with the help of ingredients like fast access, open variable exchange, project transparency and maximum user-friendliness. The result is an entire family of powerfull integrated programming tools that enable you to produce solid programming solutions quickly and reliably.

The MELSOFT Concept:
  • Intuitive user interface
  • Fast project development
  • Reliability
  • Data exchange, compatibility
  • Economic programming
  • Reduced learning curve
  • Transparency of variables
  • Cost reduction

Remote I/O
Tailored for all applications

Mitsubishi fieldbus I/O terminals are popular all over the world in many branches of industry, from conventional mechanical engineering to building automation services, with good reason: Planning, wiring, installing and maintaining Mitsubishi fieldbus I/O systems is exceptionally easy, and the distributed I/O system offers a wide range of technical highlights and customer benefits that range from:

  • Modular and freely-scalable architecture for precise configuration
  • Module width from just 12.6mm per terminal
  • Gold-plated contacts and insertion-coded modules for maximum reliability
  • Replacement at the touch of a button with the latest hot-swapping technology
  • "Permanent wiring" made possible by plug-in electronics modules
  • High density I/O blocks offer excellent value for money and quick installation
  • And much more

Mitsubishi fieldbus terminals make it possible to use a distributed layout for switchgear cabinets and terminal boxes. This modern and intuitive connection technology allows direct connection of all common sensors and actuators without any additional connection hardware.

Remote I/O – MELSEC ST
Remote I/O – MELSEC ST
MELSEC ST - Fully configurable for maximum flexibility
MELSEC ST is Mitsubishi's highly flexible remote I/O series which can be connected to either CC-Link or Profibus based networks using optional head stations. ST stands for Slicetype Terminal - the series is a complete remote I/O system using plug-in electronics modules.

Highlights:
  • Innovative and versatile modular design
  • Permanent wiring
  • Module replacement during operation at the touch of a button
  • Gold-plated contacts for permanently reliable connections
  • Error-proof module coding
Remote I/O – Block I/O solutions
Tailored for all applications
These remote modules are intended to be installed near the control target. The advantages are reduced cabling and the capability of aquiring data and operation results of individualmachine modules autonomously.

Highlights:
  • Up to 32 I/O modules with a maximum of 16 inputs or 16 outputs each can be connected.
  • All modules have a very compact design which is tough and highly shock-resistant.
  • Status indicator LEDs for the inputs
  • Standard electrical isolation between process and control via optocouplers
  • Mounting with DIN rail adapters or screws
  • Modules can be mounted in horizontal arrangement or in one of 4 orientations on a flat surface.
Solutions – Safety
System Q Safety Relay
The QS90SR2SP safety relay module allows safety I/O to be included in a conventional System Q controller, for when it is not cost effective to specify a dedicated safety controller. The module can be mounted in a conventional System Q rack, or alternatively can be used with a decentralised connection, or on a conventional CC-Link open network. Hence it provides a high degree of flexibility for system design. The QS90 meets all relevant safety certifications such as EN 954 Category 4 and ISO 13849-1/2006 PL e.

System configurations
  • Safety and conventional I/O on the same rack
  • Combine local and decentralized I/O on the same system without complexity
  • Add safety I/O to a standard CC-Link network along with non-safety devices

iQ Platform
iQ Automation Platform
For maximum return on investment

Mitsubishi’s iQ Automation Platform is the enabling hardware for our e-F@ctory concept. This is an automation strategy developed from our own global manufacturing expertise. The iQ’s key benefits are:

  • Minimized TCO (total cost of ownership)
  • Seamless integration
  • Maximized productivity
  • Transparent communications

How the iQ Automation can benefit your operations
iQ is the world's first automation platform combining all key automation types on one controller. Avoid wasting valuable engineering resources trying to make different vendors’ systems work together. With iQ, Mitsubishi takes care of system integration. iQ offers an extensive array of controller types that seamlessly operate together on the same backplane. Now your engineering staff concentrate on the demands of the application itself right from the beginning.

Reduce costs
Throughout the automation lifecycle, iQ reduces your costs. First, project lead time is reduced due to the high level of integration and the iQ Works suite of engineering tools. iQ Works allows a system to be developed and commissioned faster thanks to powerful simulation tools and reduced programming. iQ Works supports all key iQ control types, whether it's PLC, motion, or even HMI screen design.

Do more, faster
iQ’s CPUs lead the industry in performance. Combined with an advanced backplane architecture to optimize system communications, these provide faster ROI due to reduced cycle times and increased productivity. iQ's PLC CPUs execute programs in microseconds while handling thousands of I/O. Advanced motion capabilities control dozens of axes simultaneously via the noise immune 50Mbit/s SSCNET/III network. In food and beverage applications, this eliminates mechanically based packaging systems. Machine design is simplified; lead times are shorter and job changes faster. Industries requiring automated assembly benefit from the iQ's integration of a fully featured robotic controller. Combining process and discrete control on the same system also allows the iQ to handle a range of hybrid applications. Even complex systems such as transfer lines, requiring machining, motion and sequence control, can easily be handled in a single controller.

Free flow of information
iQ is compatible with a wide variety of networks for engineering complete plant systems. This includes the open CC-Link architecture, allowing a seamless flow of information throughout all levels of a plant, to enterprise IT systems and beyond. iQ also takes full advantage of CC-Link IE, the world's first gigabit Ethernet open automation network. No longer does your network limit the productivity of your enterprise as information becomes freely available to those who need it.

There’s an iQ for you
A final key point is the iQ’s scalability. While capable of automating whole lines, it is equally at home running single machines. Configure the platform as a PLC or motion controller alone when high performance on small scale systems is critical. Whatever your needs, there is an iQ solution that meets them precisely.
