MELFA Robots – RP Series - Precision Robots
The parallel-arm SCARA robots of the RP series are high-performance systems developed specially for micro-handling. When it comes to precision, speed and compactness of these robots are virtually unbeatable. These compact units with 4 degrees of freedom are ideal for applications like watch, mobile phone and hearing aid assembly. The RP product range includes three models for handling tasks with payloads from 1 to 5kg.

Placement accuracy one tenth the width of a human hair.
The smallest and fastest robot in this range is the RP-1AH. It can place components with a precision of five thousandths of a millimetre in a workspace around the size of a DIN A6 sheet of paper - an unbeatable performance that is currently only available from Mitsubishi Electric robots.

SCARA Robots - RH Series
These SCARA models of the RH-SH series are powerful robots designed specially for palletising and assembly tasks.
The robots are fitted with newly-developed servo motors and step-down transmissions that enable operation at high speed with optimum acceleration and braking performance. For example, the RH-12SH achieves speeds that are 18% faster than comparable robots, giving users an easy, flexible, high speed solution.

Intelligent self-monitoring
The sensorless crash detection system helps preventing accidental damage.

Optimised design
The solenoid valves for controlling the gripper handles are installed on the bak of arm 2. This optimised design minimises tangling and catching of the gripper supply lines and the surrounding components. In addition, pneumatic hoses and senso calbles are routed inside the robot arm for easier connection of grippers and sensors.

Articulated Arm - RV Series
Mitsubishi Electric offers a full range of articulated-arm robots with 5 and 6 degrees of freedom for all kinds of handling tasks with payloads from 1 to 12kg.

High performance in the compact class
Mitsubishi's RV-2AJ and RV-1A are small, compactly-designed robots that can be installed directly next to or even inside machinery and systems. These compact units are particularly good at placing and removing small components.

Mid-range reliability
Typical applications for the RV-3SJB and RV-3SB include handling samples, work on analysis equipment and a wide range of quality control tasks. The slim design and great agility of these robots make it easy to integrate them in machinery.

Maximum power and reach
The RV-S series are the latest generation of 6-DOF (degrees of freedom) robots from Mitsubishi Electric. With repeatability of ± 0.05mm and speeds of up to 9,500mm/s the RV-12SL is one of the fastest and most precise robots in its class. The 6kg class model offers even higher performance of 0.02mm repeatability. These robots are ideal for handling components in industrial manufacturing applications and for daisy-chaining production machines.

Mitsubishi Electric's comprehensive protection and service functions help to make these robots particularly safe and reliable. Standard equipment includes a sensorless collision prevention system that immediately switches off the robot as soon as any non-typical load is registered.

Powerful Compact Class - RV-2AJ/-1A
Small, compact and powerful
The compact design and flexible reach of these 5 and 6 DOF (degrees of freedom) robots makes them a popular choice. They are ideal for application where a small compact robot needs to be installed directly next to or even in the system it is serving. The RV-A robots are particularly good at handling, placing and removing small parts. Other applications include quality control and handling samples in medical and other laboratories.

Trouble-free handling
An electrical gripper or up to two pneumatic grippers can be installed to handle components and workpieces. Pneumatic hoses are pre-installed in the RV-As robot arm to facilitate connection of the grippers.

Fast and Economical - RV-3SB/-3SJB
Easy integration
The RV-3S series robots are designed for easy integration in existing work cells. For example, 32 integrated inputs and outputs permit direct interaction with sensors and actuators, reducing cycle periods and maing system configuration simpler and easier.
Good communication with other automation components is naturally essential for full work cell integration. The RV-3S series supports connection via the three main industry standard networks: Ethernet, Profibus/DP and CC-Link.
The RV-3S can also control up to 8 additional axes (two of them interpolated) for easy integration in to work cells where movement is restricted or where points are apart.

High protection rating
The high IP65 ingress protection rating makes it possible to install the robot not just next to the machine or workstation but actually within the machine itself. This is particularly useful in metal-cutting applications where the robot may be exposed to fluid cutting oils.

Modular PLC - Reliable control when you need it most
The modular concept
Building on its predecessor, the AnSH, SystemQ is a control concept that allows users to mix and select the best combination of CPUs, communication devices, specialist control modules and discreet I/O on a back-plane.
This allows users to configure systems into what they need, when they need it, where they need it.

Multiple capabilities
Basic and advanced PLC CPUs, specialist motion and process controllers and even PCs can be combined into a single SystemQ solution with up to four different CPUs. This gives users a choice of control philosophies, programming concepts and programming languages – all from a single platform.

An automation platform for the future
Flexibility and scalability are key design features that enable System Q to truly be a single Automation Platform. Users can apply simple control to an individual machine or integrated plant wide management all from the same hardware base.

What can you expect from Mitsubishi Modular PLCs?
  • Global use
  • Totally scalable
  • Multi CPU
  • Multi network connectivity
  • Flexibility
  • Dual redundancy
Modular PLC – process control - Process control you can count on
A platform to build on
The strength of System Q’s automation platform really comes into its own in traditional specialist industries. The unique flexibility of proven off-the-shelf control components such as I/O and communication devices, teamed with dedicated special devices like process CPUs, assures high functionality, ease of use and targeted control – all within budget.

Two worlds meet
Our dedicated System Q process CPUs build on the already high functionality of Mitsubishi’s advanced PLC CPUs. This powerful combination of sequential control overlaid with dedicated process instructions gives users a hybrid control solution with the best of both worlds.

Process CPUs
System Q’s Process CPUs bring the benefits of standard System Q technology into the process environment, reducing both implementation and long-term running costs.

Redundant CPUs
Mitsubishi Electric’s dual-redundant CPUs bring an additional layer of fault tolerance to the control of a whole system.

High reliability systems
The System Q automation platform can also be applied to other areas requiring high reliability, e.g. standby network masters, redundant fieldbus (CC-Link) and redundant power supplies for remote I/O stations.

iQ Platform - For maximum return on investment
Mitsubishi’s iQ Automation Platform is the enabling hardware for our e-F@ctory concept. This is an automation strategy developed from our own global manufacturing expertise. The iQ’s key benefits are:
  • Minimized TCO (total cost of ownership)
  • Seamless integration
  • Maximized productivity
  • Transparent communications

How the iQ Automation can benefit your operations
iQ is the world's first automation platform combining all key automation types on one controller.

Reduce costs
Throughout the automation lifecycle, iQ reduces your costs. First, project lead time is reduced due to the high level of integration and the iQ Works suite of engineering tools.

Do more, faster
iQ’s CPUs lead the industry in performance. Combined with an advanced backplane architecture to optimize system communications, these provide faster ROI due to reduced cycle times and increased productivity. iQ's PLC CPUs execute programs in microseconds while handling thousands of I/O. Advanced motion capabilities control dozens of axes simultaneously via the noise immune 50Mbit/s SSCNET/III network. In food and beverage applications, this eliminates mechanically based packaging systems. Machine design is simplified; lead times are shorter and job changes faster. Industries requiring automated assembly benefit from the iQ's integration of a fully featured robotic controller.

Free flow of information
iQ is compatible with a wide variety of networks for engineering complete plant systems.

There’s an iQ for you
A final key point is the iQ’s scalability. While capable of automating whole lines, it is equally at home running single machines. s, there is an iQ solution that meets them precisely.

Remote I/O – MELSEC ST - Tailored for all applications
