tests.
|
| |
|
Fatigue Strength Testing Machines
|
| |
|
HA-Model: 50 to 500 k
The HA range are classical servo-hydraulic testing machines,
with a testing actuator mounted in the lower crosshead. They
are particularly suitable for determining material
properties under cyclic loading e.g. fracture mechanics, LCF
(Low Cycle Fatigue).
|
 |
Model HB: 50 to 2500 kN
HB servo-hydraulic testing machines have the testing actuator
mounted on the upper crosshead, making them extremely
versatile in use, especially in conjunction with the
optional T-slot platform, which enables flexure and
component testing in addition to standard tests.
|
 |
Model HC: 10 to 25 kN
The compact HC table-top testing machines are great
space-savers. With the testing actuator mounted in the upper
crosshead and the series-standard T-slot platform, flexure
and component tests can be performed in addition to standard
tests.
|
 |
HTM High-Speed Testing Machines from 25 to 160 kN
The fracture behavior of many materials is known to be
dependent on loading speed (among other things). Numerical
calculation of crash safety requires appropriate data and
constitutive equations. Zwick's HTM servo-hydraulic
high-speed testing machines allow strain rate dependent
characteristic values to be determined over a wide speed
range.
|
 |
Servohydraulic Testing Actuators
Servo-hydraulic testing actuators are used in materials and
component testing to reproduce precise, pre-determined
forces and travel. They cope equally well with periodic or
random signals and with loadings ranging from static to
continuous. These actuators can be integrated into a load
frame (Models HA, HB, HC) or used as a single testing
actuator on a platform.
|
|
Hydraulic Power Packs
Servo-hydraulic test equipment requires a
pressurized oil supply with an extremely high level
of cleanliness and constant pressure. Pressure
fluctuations must be minimal at all times, even with
very irregular oil demand from the consumer, with
nominal flow rate matched to the consumer concerned.
Zwick's wide range of hydraulic power-packs more
than meets these requirements. Connection to testing
actuators is via a set of hose assemblies; the use
of steel piping is recommended where longer runs are
involved. The power packs can also be coupled
together for use with large hydraulic installations
|
 |
Hydraulic Wedge Grips
Zwick hydraulic wedge grips are suitable for static
tensile and compression tests, as well as for
fatigue tests under pulsating and alternating
loading.
|
 |

and control electronics can be used for static,
quasi-static and dynamic tests on materials,
components and complete structures.
|
 |
Vibrophores®
Vibrophores are used to determine fatigue strength,
with regard to fatigue life and fatigue limit, for
example fatigue testing to DIN 50100 (Wöhler curve)
under tensile, compression, pulsating and fatigue
loads. Typical applications are fracture mechanics
tests on CT and SEB specimens, pre-cracking
specimens, fatigue and durability tests on
components (e.g. screws and springs), and production
and quality control of components exposed to
sinusoidal loading during their working lives.

videoXtens
videoXtens provides contact-free,
high resolution measurement of
tensile and compression deformations
on all types of plastic, metals,
rubber, composites and foils. It is
also able to measure transverse
strain for the measurement of r and
n values to ISO 10113 and ISO 10275
and yield strength in tensile tests
to EN 10002-1.

|
|
|
Optical Extensometer
The optical extensometer is suitable
for reliable, accurate strain
measurement in tensile and
hysteresis tests on highly ductile,
highly elastic and contact-sensitive
materials. It provides accurate,
contact-free measurement even under
extended temperature conditions in
environmental chambers.
|
 |
laserXtens
laserXtens provides contact-free
measurement of strain on a very wide
range of materials, the measuring
principle rendering the attachment
of gage marks unnecessary. This
makes laserXtens suitable for many
different applications, such as
tensile and compression tests on
metals and plastics, testing
components, tests on specimens with
which contact is undesirable or not
possible due to specimen condition
and strain measurements on specimens
which might damage a contact
measuring system due to a whiplash
effect at fracture. Tests in
temperature chambers and
applications requiring bi-axial
deformation measurement are no
problem for laserXtens.
|
 |
optiXtens
optiXtens is used to carry out
strain measurement on a wide variety
of materials. The strain on metals,
plastics and composites is measured
without mechanical contact and
without the need for optical
specimen markings. Measurements in
temperature chambers present no more
problem than at room temperature and
it is particularly suitable for
measurements on notch-sensitive
materials and on specimens with low
test loads. Thanks to its high
accuracy and consistently high
resolution, it can measure
deformations in the range below the
elastic limit up to strain at break.

Specimen Grips and Test
Tools
|
|
|
|
Hydraulic Grips
Hydraulic grips are
primarily used when test
loads of 50 kN and over plus
high gripping forces are
required and are available
in single or double actuator
versions. Single-actuator
hydraulic grips can also
hold asymmetrical specimens,
whilst double-actuator grips
have a auto-centering and
eliminate the need for
specimen thickness
adjustment. Hydraulic grips
are used for tensile,
compression and cyclic
tests.
|
 |
Pneumatic Grips
Pneumatic grips are
particularly useful when
differing materials,
especially those sensitive
to clamping forces, need to
be gripped with the minimum
amount of re-setting.
Separating tensile force and
closing force ensures
constant gripping force
throughout the test sequence
- even with specimen
shrinkage, thanks to uniform
pneumatic pressure delivery.
Pneumatic grips are suitable
for tensile, compression and
cyclic tests.
|
 |
Screw Grips
With these grips, the
clamping force is applied to
the specimen by means of a
screw thread. Screw grip
design varies to suit the
load range and they are
suitable for tensile,
compression and cyclic
tests.
|
 |
Wedge Grips
Wedge grips are
self-clamping. Initial
gripping force at specimen
insertion is applied by a
spring, the gripping force
being achieved during the
actual test via the wedge
effect. The gripping
pressure is proportional to
the tensile force via a
sliding wedge.
|
|
|
|
Wedge-Screw Grips
Wedge-screw grips combine
the mechanical properties of
screw and wedge grips.
Thickness adjustment and
generation of initial
clamping force take place
via a screw thread acting on
both wedge jaws, eliminating
specimen slippage. The main
gripping force is achieved
by a wedge effect.
|
 |
Hydraulic Wedge Grips
Zwick hydraulic wedge grips
are suitable for static
tensile and compression
tests, as well as for
fatigue tests under
pulsating and alternating
loading.
|
 |
Test Fixtures for
Compression Tests
In compression tests a
specimen is compressed until
it breaks, cracks or is
crushed to a specified
degree. To ensure optimum
test progress the specimens
and compression platens must
be matched. Critical factors
include size, shape, surface
pressure, material and
surface roughness of the
platens.
|
 |
Test Fixtures for Flexure
Tests
Flexure stress is one of the
most common forms of stress
loading in practice.
Important factors include
anvil radius, span and
specimen thickness, with
specimen properties
generally being obtained via
a 3-point or 4-point flexure
test.
