Traverse-Type
Robots Find Applications on Small Machines
YAI Has
Recently Designed Small Traverse-Type Robots to Fit the
Demand
Cranston, RI-
In the past small machines ran automatic and many had
sprue pickers for runner separation. The latest trend in
the industry is to add more value and package parts;
therefore, molders are beginning to use traverse-type
robots. Cavity separation on small machines is also
becoming a big issue driving the requirement for part
extraction, not runner extraction. Advances with
micro-molding created a demand for part capturing
because the parts are small, delicate, and hard to
contain under the press if ejected. Traverse robots for
small machines were typically adaptations of robots made
for bigger tonnage's and they did not fit small machines
well.

YAI
has designed small traverse-type robots to fit this
range of machines. YAI introduced the AN-M-60, two-axis
air and servo-drive, traverse-axis robots for machines
from 30-to 80 tons. The robot uses the same handheld
controls and many similar parts to our popular AN/ANII
series. YAI introduced the VN-EA-35 all servo-drive
robot for presses from 15-to 50 tons and the VN-EA-60
all servo-driven robot for presses 40-to 80 tons. The
robots use the same touch-screen controls from our
popular VN series robots and many common parts. All of
the robots are designed for virtually maintenance free
operation
