Competence in Laser Technology
VELI,
the Virtual European Laser Institute, connects
15 leading laser institutes from Finland to Portugal to
a unique European network, bundling the competence and
knowlege on laser technology across Europe.
The European main laser technology research laboratories
deployed a new new virtual platform providing
local access to dispersed knowledge, exploiting the
resources and capacities of the major European laser
institutes. The revealed target being to improves the
accessibility and use of European expertise and
experience in laser technology.

The
goals are mainly to :
- Provide
accessibility to the collective European
laser know-how and techniques from remote
locations,
- Provide
an optimal synergy between the supply and
demand side in the field of laser technology,
- Extend
the leading position of the laser industry
in Europe to all fields of laser
applications,
- To
achieve a better technology transfer between
the institutes and to industry,
- To
promote direct contacts and
"business-to-business"
relationships between industry and the
institutes,
- To
become an European contact point for other
transatlantic laser networks.
Users
In
the VELI network responces to the needs of small
and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s). Their
industrial needs are matched to the technology
offers of the participating laser institutes.
European
SME’s are given the opportunity to use the
infrastructure and know-how created through this
distinct network, therefore substantially
enhancing their competitiveness and stimulating
job creation.
