Introduces new series of cleanroom compliant robots.

The Factory Automation Robotics Division of Epson America, Inc. is introducing a new series of robots that are both Class 10 Cleanroom and ESD Compliant. With reaches ranging from 250mm to 850mm, the E2 Cleanroom/ESD robots are perfect for applications where costly product defects can be caused by contamination from microscopic particles and/or static electricity.

"As components and product assemblies continue to shrink in size, it becomes more and more important for companies to control the workplace environment. Miniature parts and assemblies can be quickly destroyed by something as simple as a speck of dust or a quick zap of static electricity. High tech industries have been fighting this battle for a long time. We expect other industries to follow," said John Clark, National Sales Manager of Epson America's Factory Automation Robotics Division. "In the past companies could buy robots that were only Cleanroom rated. This was fine in the beginning but as time rolled on and the parts got smaller and smaller, electro static discharge became an equally important problem. Customers asked for our help in solving this problem. We went back to the drawing board to develop robots that are both clean and ESD compliant." John concluded, "The new E2 Cleanroom/ESD robots are the solution. They comply with the strict cleanliness and electro static discharge requirements common in high tech companies. The fact that they can be mounted to a wall, shelf, ceiling or table top makes them even more flexible."

With more than 17,000 machines installed and offices in Asia, Europe and North America, Epson Factory Automation Robotics is a global leader in high speed, high precision robots and related factory automation equipment. This equipment is used in the manufacturing of appliance, automotive, biotechnology, consumer, electronics, food, medical device, pharmaceutical, photonics, semiconductor and telecommunication products.
