Berger Lahr extends its IclA drives series by several IclA IFS compact drives.

In this concept, the motor, the power electronics and the control electronics form a single, compact unit. The decentralised drive technology offers completely new possibilities. The new compact drives allow the user to implement systems without a control cabinet. The drives are extremely easy to wire because the only cables required are those for communication and power supply. The reduced number of cables as well as the fact that the electronic system is contained in a screened housing improves the EMC characteristics. The devices are available with CANopen or RS 485 interface.

A Profibus interface will also be available soon. Comprehensive diagnostic functions are possible via the field bus. Three different drive sizes with stepping motor technology and torques from 0.45 to 1.5 Nm are offered. All sizes feature IP 54 protection and can operate at ambient temperatures of up to 50°C so that they can be used in a great variety of different ambient conditions. The drives are also available with gearboxes. The concept of compact drives is particularly suitable in the design of modular machines. Since no space is required in the control cabinet, the project design for the drives is limited to configuring the software and the power supply. Application areas of the IclA IFS comprise machines for the production of printed circuit boards as well as devices. In addition, they can be used as auxiliary drives in packing machines, wood processing machines and printing machines.
