KROHNE has unique expertise when it comes to flow measurement. And we don‘t just demonstrate our ability with standard applications but also with applications that are demanding, requiring custom solutions.

Electromagnetic flowmeters
OPTIFLUX - One for all applications
With just one signal converter and the widest range of flow sensors, the OPTIFLUX covers all applications, from a simple water measurement to corrosive or abrasive products or even pulp in the paper industry. Simplified engineering, procurement and inventory lead to cost-savings for the user.
This new concept marks a new era, and is the result of more than 40 years' experience in electromagnetic flowmetering.

Sets the standards in electromagnetic flowmetering
Using brand new technology has enabled us to increase the measuring performance of OPTIFLUX even further. These improvements are particularly useful where today's meters begin to capitulate. Examples of this include very low conductivity, measurement of rapid product changes with corresponding changes in pH or the measurement of pulp in the paper industry. This increase in performance was possible by a 30-fold improvement in the measuring technology components. Here we exploited all known optimization potentials.

Advantages of KROHNE electromagnetic flowmeters
Electromagnetic flowmeters can be used in almost all branches of industry for the measurement of liquids (with or without solids content) pulps, pastes and other fluids that have a specific minimum of electric conductivity.  Superior electronics give you superior results - reliable and repeatable even under difficult process conditions, while quality manufacturing guarantee years of trouble-free use.  At KROHNE, all electromagnetic flowmeters are wet-calibrated by direct comparison of volumes, the most accurate calibration method of all. The KROHNE calibration rig is the world's largest and most accurate.  Compared with other measurement methods, electromagnetic flowmetering offers the following particular advantages:
  • Measurement independant of pressure, density, temperature and viscosity
  • Short inlet and outlet runs
  • Free pipe cross section
  • No additional pressure losses
  • No moving parts
  • Any desired installation location
  • Measurement span 100:1
  • High accuracy - up to ± 0.2 % of actual value
The liner and the electrodes of the flow sensors are available in various materials that will match almost any application.

Ultrasonic Flowmeters
Ultrasonic flowmeters (UFM's) find universal use for non-contact measurement of all fluids and gasses in which ultrasonic waves can propagate. The principle of measurement is based on ultrasonic transit time.
All our ultrasonic flowmeters are calibrated on the world's largest and most accurate calibration rig.

The Highlights of KROHNE's Ultrasonic Flowmeters:

Variable Area Flowmeters
Variable area flowmeters from KROHNE offer not only the maximum possible accuracy but also maximum reliability. A wealth of experience and an intelligent quality assurance system enables us to place our VA meters in applications inaccessible to other manufacturers such as nuclear power stations where safety is critical.
Variable area flowmeters feature an upright tapered measuring tube, wider end up, in which a specially shaped float moves freely up and down.
The medium flows through the tube from bottom to top. In so doing, it raises the float until there is an annular gap between the wall of the tube and the float and equilibrium of the forces applied to the float has been achieved.

In order to meet your application needs, we deploy state-of-the-art technologies which enable us to offer highly efficient measurement technology designed for everyday usage.

An additional bonus: We don’t just deliver the measurement technology, but we‘re also able to configure entire systems for customer-specific requirements – worldwide. Technology highlights of the OPTISENS series:

ASR – automatic sensor cleaning.
The formation of deposits on analytical sensors has a considerable impact on their lifespan and measurement accuracy. The new ASR process creates outgassing on the electrode surfaces of the OPTISENS 1000 chlorine sensor. This removes even tough coatings and considerably lengthens maintenance intervals.
Integrated spray cleaning on OPTISENS 2000 sensors.
In many wastewater applications, such as primary treatment and final sedimentation or during biological treatment, measuring devices are often subject to heavy biological growth or ragging. All sensors of our OPTISENS 2000 series feature integrated spray cleaning using air or water, to ensure optimum measurement accuracy over long periods. The large sensor diamete – without any deadlegs – prevents ragging.
Easy recalibration of the OPTISENS OAM 1050 turbidity measuring system.
The OPTISENS OAM 1050 utilizes reusable standard cuvettes for calibration. The sealed cells contain turbidity standards with the values 0,02, 10 and 100 NTU/FNU and are simply inserted into the measurement chamber instead of the measuring cuvette. This means that calibration takes just a few minutes. There is no longer a need for liquid calibration standards, which are difficult to handle and susceptible to errors.
Customer-specific solutions.
We will gladly assist you in the search for the optimum solution to your measurement task. Should it be required to specifically design a measuring system according to your requirements, we are able to modify our systems according to your needs and include additional components such as sample devices, mounting plates or enclosures.

In addition, we can offer measuring systems for more special parameters.
