Biogas / Agriculture
NETZSCH Mohnopumpen GmbH – the globally operating
producer of NEMO® Progressing Cavity Pumps, TORNADO® Rotary Lobe Pumps and
NEMO® Grinding Systems – is your first-rate specialist in biogas technology.
A combination of high operating safety with cost effectiveness is of
foremost importance in this field – and NETZSCH is your most competent and
dependable partner for this interplay.
The “energy” for biogas comes from NAWAROs or organic waste material which
is largely converted into methane with the help of diligent bacteria under
the exclusion of air. At the beginning of the process, the enzymes are
charged with the substrates. At a dry matter content of approx. 5-15%, the
fermentation process consists of four biological phases: the hydrolysis
phase, acidification phase, acetogenic phase and methanogenic phase. The
conversion into predominantly biogas, carbon dioxide and water vapor takes
place at a temperature of about 40°C. NETZSCH provides the appropriate
importation technology for the stable operation of these processes along
with pumping and grinding technology designed to handle a great variety of
substances.

NEMO® Immersible Pumps
NEMO® semi-submersible pumps are used for emptying
barrels, containers, tanks, clarifi ers, pits, etc. They are also used where
space is limited and when cavitation may be a danger or where low NPSH is
available. Furthermore the pumps are suitable for emptying barrels
containing materials harmful to water and the environment where emptying
through a connection at the bottom of the barrel is not permitted.
Performance
Capacities up to 140 m3/h (620 gpm). Pressures up to 24 bar (340 psi).

|
NEMO® Immersible Pump BT with integral Mounting Plate
This pump is used in closed pits, tanks and containers
where there is the possibility to vertically flange mount the pump to the
tank lid. Depending on pump size, speed and immersion depth up to 10 m, an
additional support guide is available to secure the pump to the bottom or to
the wall near the bottom. Removal of the pump from a full tank is possible
because the guide units are self-centering and secure the pump suction
without fixings. The pump with discharge connection below the mounting
position the discharge connection of the pump is below the tank lid. The
product is either piped to the outside vertically through the lid via a 90 °
elbow or horizontally through the tank wall. This minimize the dead
space in the pump housing thus reducing the overall height of the pump above
the tank lid. This version is normally used where there is only limited
space available.
|
 |
NEMO® Immersible Pump BT with Suspension Bracket
This pump is used for emptying open barrels and
containers. It is equipped with a suspension bow for crane suspension.
Immersion depth up to 3 m.

TORNADO® Rotary Lobe Pumps
The TORNADO® rotary lobe pump is a positive
displacement pump. The pumping action is generated by the contra-rotation of
two rotors within the pump chamber which are synchronised externally. The
media enters the pump chamber through the inlet port and is carried around
the chamber by the rotors to the outlet port where it is discharged.
Broad Application Spectrum
TORNADO® rotary lobe pumps can be used for media that has the following
characteristics:
- Abrasive, corrosive and fibrous
- Containing solids (max. particle size up to 70 mm)
- Low to high viscosity
- Shear sensitive
- Non-lubricating and lubricating

Stability

The best maintenance is no maintenance
We have perfected the rotary lobe pump concept by incorporating the tried,
tested and proven NETZSCH core competence in the design and manufacture of
engineered rubber solutions for the new TORNADO® T2. During the entire
pumping cycle only elastomer and metal component surfaces interface within
the pump; elastomer to elastomer component surface interfaces, which suffer
from excess wear and generate heat, are completely eliminated. Having these
dissimilar materials for the static and dynamic pump head components, the
elastomeric surfaces are subjected to a lower dynamic loading resulting in
less plastic deformation and stress which in turn reduces wear and extends
operational life. The use of high quality sealed for life bearings, selected
for their load carrying characteristics and long life, combined with the
tooth belt drive result in a drive train that can be considered
maintenance-free.
Compactness - Efficiency in the smallest space
Smaller overall dimensions and the innovative design concept of
incorpo¬rating a timing tooth belt to both synchronise and drive means
reduced space is required for both installation and in place servicing
representing a cost saving in terms of site utilisation.
|
 |
High Performance, Reliability, Maintenance in Place

Stability – The best maintenance is no maintenance
Plastic deformation and heat generation is reduced by maintaining a uniform
elastomeric wall thickness within the pump chamber. Material sections,
bearing selection and seal positioning combine to minimize the adverse
effects on dimensional changes to pump head geometry due to temperature
changes. The design and geometry of the rotors ensures a high level of
durability. With the rotor fixing and drive outside of the pump chamber the
rotors can have a completely flat continuous front and back face with no
dead areas which eliminates the possibility of fibrous material becoming
trapped and compacted. The mechanical seal design and seal face position
eliminates dead areas and allows constant circulation of the media around
the faces which ensures that the risk of media entrapment and compaction is minimised. The TORNADO® T2 all metal pumps can be manufactured from metals
offering higher levels of cleanliness, corrosion or abrasion resistance and
can therefore be applied to applications demanding the characteristics of
these materials, especially in the low sanitary hygienic or chemical market
sectors.

Ease of Service

"Full Service In Place" instead of "Maintenance In Place"
Servicing a rotary lobe pump has never been so easy and all without the need
for any special tools. The rotors can be removed and replaced very easily
and quickly because they are not bolted or keyed to the shafts within the
pump head but fixed with quick-fit non media wetted taper lock assemblies
positioned and accessed outside of the pump head. The geometry of the rotors
means that they can be fitted and removed independently. There are no keys
dictating a unique rotor position which results in faster, easier and
cleanerrotor removal and replacement and for rotor synchronisation a setting
device is included as an integral part of the pump front cover. Benefitting
from all these features the service time for the TORNADO® T2 has been
reduced to significantly less than half the time required for servicing a
conventional rotary lobe pump. The pre-set cartridge mechanical seals are
fitted directly into the rotor and mounted on the shafts as one assembly.
There are various cartridge mechanical seals available all of which fit into
a common housing allowing for seal upgrades without modification.
|
 |
Ease of Service
Maximum reliability through design, material and range of mechanical seals
The revolutionary NETZSCH PRS (Pulsation Reduction System) guarantees an
almost pulsation-free discharge that is of benefit in many process
applications. Even when used in conjunction with straight bi-lobe rotors,
which ensures better solid handling capability and easier maintenance, the
NETZSCH PRS provides an almost pulsation-free flow which outperforms the
characteristics of complex multi-lobe helical rotors.
The pump chamber and mechanical seal design and position eliminates dead
areas, where pump media can collect and compact, making cleaning easier,
either manually or by CIP.

Type of Joints
The Proper NEMO® Joint for Every Application
The type of joint chosen is an important factor
influencing the operating safety and the life cycle costs of a NEMO® Pump.
Selection of the perfect joint will depend on the application, the operating
conditions and the substances to be conveyed, as well as the pump model.
|
|
|
|
B Universal Pin Joint
The NEMO® universal pin joint is the standard joint for
NEMO® industrial pumps because of its simple design and outstanding
reliability. To achieve a long service life, the joint is oil fi led and
sealed by the NEMO® SM® seal. The joint can also be used without seal in
case of extremely high temperatures and products where elastomers are not
suitable. The joint consists of a minimum number of parts that enables
simple dismantling for maintenance.
|
 |
V Pin Joint
The operational characteristics of the NEMO® V pin joint
are similar to those of the B pin joint. For longer service life in
difficult applications they are strengthened by hardened bushings fitted
into boreholes in the coupling rod and the rotor/drive shaft head. The Vpin
joints with hardened bushes are easy to remove for maintenance purposes.
Standard on the 125 pump size.
|
 |
H Hygienic Pin Joint
The open, patented pin joint was designed
specifically for use in hygienic pumps. It is crevice and dead space free,
polished and, therefore, easy to clean. The joint is made in accordance with
US 3-A Sanitary Standards.
|
|
|
|
F NEMO® Flextec Flexible Rod
The flexible rod is wear- and maintenance free
because there are no components moving against each other as in other joint
types. Neither lubrication nor seals are required. Therefore, the flexible
rod is suitable for high pressures and temperatures. The
flexible rod is also free from crevices and dead spaces which allows it to
be used for pumping highly sensitive products in aseptic conditions. It is
designed in accordance with the US 3-A Sanitary Standards.
|
 |
K Joint
The patented K joint was designed for extremely arduous
industrial applications involving constant pump running, frequent
stop/starts or shock loads. It is kinematically designed so that the torque
and axial loads are borne by separate elements within the joint. The joint
is oil fi lled and hermetically sealed by two seals which are resistant
(compatible) against the lubricant and the pumped product. Filling the space
between the two seals with oil allows the use of the joints at pressures up
to 12 bar (170 psi).
|
 |
Z Double Seal Pivot Joint
For the largest flows and pressures possible with NEMO®
pumps where the torques and axial loads are at their highest (in bearing
housing size NM 125SY and above) the pumps are fitted as standard with a
cartridge type precision pivot joint. The joint is oil filled, hermetically
sealed by two seals which are resistant (compatible) against the lubricant
and the pumped product. It is suitable for continuous operation.
