    • GEMÜ multi-port valve blocks

    • Combining functions in the smallest of spaces in one block offers even more advantages: The residual volume of media in the system is reduced in a measurable way, the flow is optimized and draining is improved. This enhances the performance capability of the entire system and reduces media consumption. Another advantage of blocks is that they provide junction points within plant. This allows easier cleaning and servicing. GEMÜ multi-port valve block systems are multi-functional units. At the same time, they have minimized the number of fittings and welded and solvent cemented joints, leading to a reduction in potential leakage points.

      Customer benefits:
      • Customized plant design
      • Extremely compact valve solution
      • Shorter installation times
      • System integration possible, e.g. sensor system
      • Increased plant reliability thanks to fewer connection points
        • M-block stainless steel

        • Conventional welded assemblies
Complex processes using welded assemblies are often still being implemented today, more than 20 years after the market launch of the first M-blocks. The valves, fittings and pipe components used for this require a lot of space, a greater installation and welding effort on site and lead to a correspondingly high validation expense. Not to mention a high hold-up volume and larger deadlegs in compliance with the conventional 6D or 3D rules.

GEMÜ solution for safe operation and high-quality products
Over the years, GEMÜ has implemented over 400 different designs and thousands of customized variants of multi-port valve blocks to make processes safer, increase system availability and reduce the life cycle costs of a system as part of a total cost of ownership (TCO) concept.

          Consultation, engineering, manufacturing expertise
We begin supporting our customers as early as the planning phase by providing them with ideas and initial drafts. We then implement the design in the 3D CAD system and adjust it to closely meet the requirements of the particular customer. This jointly developed solution is then processed in our highly efficient machine shop. Several thousand blocks, with weights ranging from 0.1 kg to 500 kg, are processed each year on our multi-axis machining centres.
        • M-block plastic

        • Lightweight, low space requirement, quick to fit and multi-functional– these requirements are becoming increasingly important for system components.

Conventional system design: Many fittings and pipes
Complex control of liquids and gases are generally carried out by means of numerous individual valves. These are connected to one another by similar numbers of fittings and piping. But this takes up a lot of space and assembly is time-consuming because of the much higher number of individual parts. Every assembly point and pipe connection is also a potential leakage point that could potentially reduce operational safety.

New approach for multi-functional, space-saving and modular systems
Compact plastic multi-port valve blocks are the ideal components here. They can perform various functions while saving space. GEMÜ engineers and application specialists are now applying the experience they have gained in implementing thousands of multi-port valve blocks in the pharmaceutical industry to the creation of plastic multi-port valve blocks for the traditional industrial sector.

Advantages of GEMÜ M-block plastic multi-port valves:
          • Individual, customized and flexible design
          • Very compact design, manufactured with several valve seats from a single block of material
          • Fewer fittings, welds or solvent cemented joints -> fewer potential leakage points
          • Lower assembly and installation costs
          • Low hold-up volume, smaller wetted area
          • GEMÜ modular system with high-quality components (actuators, diaphragms, valve bodies, position indicators, positioner or process controllers) that are synchronized with each other
          • Compatible with standard connections such as threaded sockets, solvent cement spigots, butt weld spigots, union ends, clamps and flanges
        • Extendable multi-port valve blocks from GEMÜ

        • In a customized valve block design, GEMÜ has been successfully integrating a very wide variety of functions such as blending, diverting, channelling, draining or supplying a very wide variety of liquids (including chemicals) for years. Dosing functions can also be implemented with multi-port valve blocks.

This concept has now been expanded to include plastic multi-port valve blocks. In doing so, and in collaboration with customers from the chemical industry and the environmental systems industry, "extendable multi-port valve blocks" have been developed.

The new concept can cover a majority of possible variants with just a few basic versions. These basic blocks can be connected within seconds, and without any additional piping, adhesive bonding or welding, to produce an extended multi-port valve block. Subsequent modifications to the process plant which are requested by the plant operator can also be implemented quickly and easily. This offers genuine added value to suppliers and operators alike.

          Process reliability under stringent requirements
Customer requests for high switching cycles and long service life when working with ultra pure or corrosive media have been answered by GEMÜ with their iComLine®-series multi-port valves. Tested to five million switching cycles (!), the multi-port valve allows maintenance-friendly, safe operation of pneumatic actuators at up to six bar. Thanks to the design and materials used, isolation and control of the media current is possible without impairment even when operated with very rapid switching cycles and at temperatures up to 150 °C. The use of an innovative pretensioning element also ensures external leak tightness, even in the event of temperature fluctuations and settling, which can occur on plastic parts under extreme conditions of use.

          Advantages of iComLine® multi-port valves:
          • Customized design: Subassembly and accessories can be integrated into the individual design
          • Flexibility: Available with standard connections and able to be combined with a variety of actuator sizes; available in all other machining materials alongside the PTFE valve body material
          • Product reliability: Manufacture from a semi-finished product ensures low risk of leakage
          • Minimal contamination: Cleanroom manufacturing in accordance with SEMI F 57
          • Low space requirement due to compact design
          • Low operating costs: Fast installation and assembly and few components
          • Long service life (five million switching cycles when used with a pneumatic actuator)
