 Product Abstract
Motors - The muscle behind the motion
Rugged, robust and reliable, hydraulic motors from Hägglunds can be used just about anywhere on land or at sea. From the bitter cold of Siberia to the blistering heat of Africa, they withstand the challenges of any environment and any type of industry.

Likewise, our motors can drive any application, from small winches to the largest bucket wheel reclaimers. Our broad range of motors covers the whole spectrum of needs, providing either shaft or housing rotation and handling everything from 5000 to 1 400 000 Nm.
Compact CA
Giving bulk the boot.

Hägglunds’ Compact CA motor was designed for one specific purpose: to power heavy-duty applications with minimum size and weight. Its light and compact design yields a superior ratio of power to weight, yet it has the same durability and performance as that of other Hägglunds motors.

Among the popular features of the Compact CA are its ability to handle shock loads and its useful through hole. These, as well as the motor’s numerous mounting options, make it a small but flexible powerhouse that provides advantages in many applications.
Compact CB
More concentrated power.

Hägglunds’ Compact CB motor packs more power into a small package, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications such as shredders, feeders and roll mills. Its space-saving design offers many mounting possibilities, as well as a through hole for use in applications like drilling and boring.

Because the Compact CB is available in many sizes and displacements, your drive can be optimised to match your specific needs. Add the motor’s quick reaction time and ability to handle shock loads, and you have a drive that’s as flexible as it is tough.
Compact CBP
Redefining the limits.

The Compact CBP motor is not only Hägglunds newest motor, but also our most innovative. Running at higher speeds with increased efficiency, it offers a solution for even the most demanding applications, including chemical agitators and internal mixers for rubber.

As part of our Gemini drive system concept, the Compact CBP can operate continuously at high power, delivering more power per kilo than any other Hägglunds drive. Yet despite its impressive strength, the motor is both light and compact.

All models feature a through hole and splines drive shaft, and can be mounted with flanges or a torque arm.

Marathon
Proving that size matters.

Hägglunds’ Marathon motor is a giant – not only when it comes to size, but also when it comes to performance. By far the largest hydraulic motor in the world, Marathon is specially engineered for extreme, high-torque applications.

Despite its heavy-duty design and intimidating size, the Marathon motor offers excellent controllability and resistance to shock loads. As a result, it lets you handle large, dusty, corrosive and explosive applications with unexpected finesse. Even in extreme heat or freezing cold, a Marathon drive provides years of reliable service.
Viking
The Hägglunds original.

As tough as its name, the Viking motor was the first to leave Hägglunds’ assembly line back in 1960. Designed for performance, reliability and control in marine applications, it has also proved its worth in industrial applications, including mining and pulp and paper.

In marine applications, and especially on tough winches, the Viking motor is known for true freewheeling and the best control of line pull at any speed. With its excellent handling of torque, it cuts maintenance and increases productivity by reducing the risk of breakdowns and other problems.

Power Units - The source of our strength.
Hägglunds power units are the driving force for our motors, which is why they match our motors in quality and performance. With their excellent controllability and fast-acting hydraulic pumps, they bring total reliability to your drive system.

All Hägglunds power units are easily installed, and they can be supplied in a wide range of power levels and configurations. Each is function-tested before delivery, so you can rest assured of their smooth operation.

Customisation is normal, and our economical Spider monitoring and control system is often included in the package.
HPU
Down-to-earth power.

Hägglunds’ HPU is a horizontal power unit suitable for many applications, including shredders, feeders and bucket wheel reclaimers. With its low-lying construction, it proves particularly useful in confined spaces. However, it can also be used in situations where a low centre of gravity would be more practical, for example on a platform.
LPU
Process-specific power.

A smaller power unit with limited capacity, the horizontal Hägglunds LPU is a niche product aimed primarily at low-power applications. Its most common use is in bulk material handling, where it is used to power the feeder and conveyor drives.

Although the LPU was originally developed for use with the Hägglunds Marathon motor, today it can be used in combination with other motors as well.
PAC
American power. (NEMA)

The PAC unit is the North American version of Hägglunds’ most popular power unit. Easy to install, it features a modular construction that’s simple to equip with control and monitoring systems. Many combinations of oil-flow capacity and power are possible.

The cabinet itself can be placed nearly anywhere, either close to the machine or in another convenient location. And because its doors and panels are sound insulated, it produces a minimum of noise. All of its surfaces are treated to prevent corrosion and aging, which means that no environment is too severe.
PBC
Stripped-down power.

Hägglunds’ PBC unit is an open-frame power unit for use in North America. Though functionally interchangeable with the more common PAC unit, it stands only half as high and comes without the sound-insulating panels.

Because of its construction, the PBC unit offers size and cost advantages that make it popular in certain applications. For example, the PBC unit can often be found in shredders and other recycling applications, where cutting costs may be more important than reducing noise.
PEC
Tried-and-true power.

The PEC unit is the European version of Hägglunds’ most popular power unit.

PU
Motor-assisted power.

Originally designed for a process industry customer with specific needs, the Hägglunds PU is a power unit without an incorporated oil tank for low-speed applications. It works solely with the larger varieties of Marathon motor, forming a drive system in which the oil tank is the motor itself.

In most cases, a PU is chosen when size makes it difficult to use a PEC. Its most common use is in the pulp and paper industry, where it powers the drives of pulp washing machines.
TADS
When less is more.

Hägglunds’ rugged Torque Arm Drive System (TADS) offers a space-saving turnkey solution, ideal for heavy-duty systems with little room to spare. The motor’s housing itself serves as the main oil reservoir, which makes it a self-contained drive package.

A TADS comes pre-assembled, either with internal splines or with a hollow shaft equipped with a compression coupling. With no need for foundations or additional couplings, a TADS provides a reliable, versatile and easily installed drive solution for improved performance in demanding applications.
Gemini Concept
Gemini is a truly modular system, allowing not only the flexible placement of modules but also flexible expansion.

It is based on the Compact CBP motor series. In addition to the motor itsel, it consists of one or more power units, and oil tank module, a service module and specially designed hydraulic piping.

Gemini Power Units
Gemini offers freedom of application and versatility in many respects to enable you to configure your plant arrangements to optimise operation and production. Not least with regard to power. The choice of installed power in the illustration ranges from 160 kW/215 hp to 2840 kW/3809 hp. But power is not limited to 2840 kW/3809 hp.

It is possible to combine pump modules to achieve even greater power. Combine Gemini PV Module with single pumps or Gemini PH Module with tandem pumps depending on what is most suitable for the application. The choice of power and flow capacity is almost endless. The illustration shows a few suggestions of installed power with combinations of Gemini PV and Gemini PH. Gemini is a reliable choice for the user, facilitating easy adaptation to meet future changes in production and power requirements.

Gemini Service Unit
This module includes filters.

The Service module filters the fluid for one or more PV and/or PH module.

Gemini Tank Module
The TC Tank module supplies the drive system with hydraulic fluid and cools it

Local controls which displays the condition of the system is mounted on the front. The TC module is designed for different environments where either water or air can be the cooling media. There are three types of oil coolers; water/oil plate type, water/oil tube type, or air/oil. They are mounted on a standard rack for connection to the the tank module or another suitable place e.g. wall mounting.

Controls - The brains behind the brawn
Hägglunds control and monitoring systems are the nerve centre of our drive systems. They provide valuable information and essential functions, giving you the means to make both long-term and split-second decisions.

The majority of our control systems are based on our Spider, a flexible and programmable control unit that provides seamless communication between our drives and your applications. However, we can also tailor-make larger installations, in which a PLC is often the focal point for a whole network of control and monitoring systems.

Spider
Control at your fingertips.

Spider is an advanced and versatile control system from Hägglunds. With nearly 1000 parameters that can be programmed to suit your needs, it gives you easy access to efficient and cost-effective control. Spider can communicate via different interfaces, including current or voltage signals and various BUS protocols.

In spite of its many options, Spider is simple to use, with information presented on a convenient, front-mounted display. The modular units can be accessed via keypad or PC, and the system can be easily configured to control different types of drives.

As with all Hägglunds products, Spider units are compact and durably constructed, which means they can be mounted just about anywhere.
Gemini MC Control Module
Gemini MC Main Control Module controls and monitors the whole Gemini drive system.

The control module – which is PLC-based – presents operational information on a colour screen. BUS-technology is utilised to communicate operational information. The module indicates conditions and stores information for subsequent analysis. The operator receives continuous information about the system and process with a large variety of troubleshooting facilities. The screen informs the user in clear text about what action needs to be taken; for example maintenance or adjustment of process data.

Valves - For strength upon strength
Hägglunds has developed a broad assortment of valves that increase flexibility and add function to our drive systems. We have valves for all of our motors, including a new range designed for direct mounting on our Compact CA, CB or CBP motors. Valves in this range can also be installed in the piping system for other Hägglunds motors.

All of our valves feature an excellent capacity range and robust construction. Together, they form a modular system that’s easy to build upon, and one that allows many combinations of functions for the same installation. The individual functions in a combination are always isolated, thus creating maximum stability and simplifying service.
Integrated Valve Solutions
Putting it all together.

In addition to single-function valves, Hägglunds offers integrated winch valves that combine multiple functions. Two models are available, each designed for a specific type of system.

For open hydraulic systems, we offer an integrated valve that provides overload protection, load control (counterbalance) and displacement shift functions.

For closed hydraulic systems, we offer an integrated valve that provides overload protection, displacement shift and load-relieving functions.
Load Control Valves
Cushioning the drop.

Hägglunds load control valves are used with winches in open hydraulic systems. They provide hydraulic braking that secures your load, ensuring that it never moves faster than the flow of oil to the motor. This gives you full control of the load when lowering, even in the event of a pipe break within the drive system.

Among our load control valves is a model with a constant tension function, which ensures a uniform line pull regardless of the motor’s RPM. This valve provides additional security in connection with mooring, trawling and anchor handling.
Motion Control Valves
Masters of movement.

Hägglunds motion control valves are available in several models, each providing a specific function. Among the available functions are:

• Displacement shift, which yields twice the speed with the same oil flow
• Free circulation mode, which allows the motor to be engaged and disengaged with the machine in motion
• Freewheeling mode, which is commonly used for shooting out the net in trawling applications

Most motion control valves can be used in both open and closed systems. There is also a proportional directional control valve for use only in open systems, which provides a useful counterbalance function for winches.
