OCME, founded in 1954 with
only 5 people on staff, quickly started building its reputation in the
packaging equipment market until it became one of the industry's world
leaders, with more than 10,000 machines installed the world over.
Today, the Parma-based company has approximately 390 employees, has been ISO
9001-certified since 1994, has a turnover of of 82 Million Euro in 2010 and
operates principally in the beverages, food, detergent, petro-chemical and
tissue sectors.

Machine range
Our task, as suppliers of packaging technology, is not
just to install a system, simply providing a solution for an immediate
problem. We believe, rather, that our job is to supply a vision of the
future of the packaging industry and to produce solutions that are ahead of
their time.
At least, this is what we have been doing since 1954. Since then, OCME has
become the world market leader, developing some technologies that have since
become milestones in the history of the packaging, logistics and palletising
industry.
Talking about OCME machines is not like talking about ordinary machines,
these are elite systems, high-efficiency systems with extremely high output
levels, systems designed to become the backbone of our customers' production
divisions.

Automatic depalletisers for crates, cases and containers
in bulk
Dorado
and Antares are the names that designate Ocme's range of depalletisers.
Dorado models are low or high level machines dedicated to loose containers
such as cans, tin cans, jars, bottles with speed varying from 2 to 7
layers/minute. Layer transferring takes place through a rotating pusher or
with self-adjusting gripping head. First model installed: 1968
Antares models are low or high level machines dedicated to secondary
containers such as plastic crates, carton cases, pails with speed varying
from 4 to 15 layers/minute. Layer transferring takes place through a
gripping head. First model installed: 1967

Roll-fed labeller
Sagitta is the roll-fed labeller developed by Ocme in
2006 to complete the range of beverage bottling lines offered. The machine
can handle PET bottles with sizes varying from 0.33 L to 3 L and has been
designed with particular attention paid to ergonomics, easy maintenance and
handling.

Level filler for beverages
Hydra is the level filler destined to the bevarages
industry, launched by Ocme on the international market in 2004. There are 2
models available: one for still liquids (still water juices, spirits) that
uses a level filling technology, and one for carbonated liquids (still or
sparkling water, juices, soft-drinks, beer) that employs the isobaric
filling system.
Hydra can process glass or PET containers, with an output speed from 12,000
to 100,000 bottles/hour. The pitch ranges are 94 mm for maximum bottle
diameter of 89 mm; 113 mm for maximum bottle diameter of 108 mm and 126 mm
for maximum bottle diameter of 115 mm. The number of filling valves varies
between 40 and 160 based on machine output speed and pitch.

Volumetric fillers for viscous liquids
Lynx is the range of fillers dedicated to fill viscous
liquids adopting the technology of volumetric piston filling. Lynx range
include 2 main groups:
Lynx L is the series of in-line volumetric fillers dedicated to products
such as personal care, home care, edible oil, lubricating oil and chemicals.
Containers handled may be bottles or cans, made of plastic, glass or metal
with volumes varying between 50 ml and 5 litres and speed ranging from 1.000
to 5.500 containers/hour.
Lynx R is the series of rotary volumetric fillers dedicated to products such
as personal care, home care, edible oil, lubricating oil and chemicals.
Containers handled may be bottles or cans, made of plastic, glass or metal
with volumes varying between 50 ml and 5 litres and speed ranging from 1.000
to 45.000 containers/hour.

Weight fillers for viscous liquids

Libra is the line created
for viscous liquids using the electronic weight filling technology. The
Libra line comprises 3 main sub-groups of models:
Libra R5 is the rotary weight filler dedicated to filling with personal care
products, household detergents, edible oils, lube oils and chemical
products. The containers handled include bottles or tins made of plastic,
glass or metal, with a volume ranging from 50 ml to 5 liters, and output
speeds between 3,600 and 60,000 containers/hour.
Libra R30 is the rotary weight filler created for industrial detergents,
chemical products, edible oils and lube oils. The containers handled include
plastic or metal pails with a volume ranging from 10 to 30 liters, with
output speeds between 300 and 1,500 containers/hour.
Libra LT is the in-line weight filler dedicated to filling with industrial
detergents, chemical products, edible oils and lube oils. The containers
handled include drums or pails made of plastic or metal, with a volume
ranging from 60 and 200 liters, with output speeds between 30 and 150
containers/hour.

Shrinkwrap and tray-packers
Vega is the line of shrink-wrap packers destined to
packaging bottles, jars, tin cans, etc. in film only, film and layer pad and
film and tray configurations, with output speeds between 20 and 450
bundles/min.
- The line of Vega shrink-wrap packers is subdivided into 2 subgroups with
different features, based on the output capacity required:
Vega HT: for output speeds from 40 to 150 cycles/minute on single, dual or
triple track.
Each category of machines may process the following types of packages:
- film only
- film+paer pad
- film+tray
- film+u-board

Wraparound packers
OCME's wraparound packers represent excellence in world
secondary packaging cartoning systems. Different models are available for
speeds from 20 to 100 packs per minute, for handling containers such as
bottles, cans, jars, tins and multipacks. As a complement to the basic
models, versions for the insertion of partitions (traditional or pre-formed)
are available.

Combined wraparound and shrink-wrap packer
Gemini is the series of secondary packaging machines that
combine the functions of a wraparound packer with those of a shrink-wrap
packer. These are extremely flexibile machines with the capacity to process:
- trays without film
- trays with film
- multipacks in bundels in film only packs
- wraparound cartons

Automatic palletisers with 90° infeed for cartons,
bundles and other packs
Perseus is
the line of palletisers with 90° infeed used to handle packs such as
bundles, cartons, crates, multipack, drums, etc. with speeds ranging from 3
to 7 layers/minute. There are 2 models:
- Persues L low level palletiser with stationary pallet and 1 or 2 infeeds and
output speeds of up to 5 layers/minute
- Perseus H high level palletiser with mobile pallet and 1 or 2 infeeds and
output speeds of up to 7 layers/minute

Automatic palletisers with in-line infeed for cartons,
bundles and other packs
Orion is the line of palletisers with in-line infeed used
to handle packs such as bundles, cartons, crates, multipacks, drums, etc.,
with output speeds ranging from5 to 9 layers/minute. There are 2 models:
- Orion L stationary pallet low level palletiser with infeed divider and an
output speed of up to 5 layers/minute
- Orion H mobile pallet high level palletiser with infeed divider and an
output speed of up to 9 layers per minute

Robot palletisers for bundles, cartons and other packs
Pegasus is the line of robot palletisers with multiple
gripping system or layer grippers to pick up a complete layer of packs,
capable of handling packs such as bundles, cartons, crates, multipacks,
drums, etc., with output speeds of up to 7 cycles/minute.
The structure of the robotic island may be tailored according to the type of
container to be handled, the speed of the production line and the accessory
operations that the robot must carry out (for ex.empty pallet infeed,
insertion of layer pads)

AGV - Automated guided vehicle
Auriga is the line of laser guided vehicles dedicated to
internal plant logistics. These vehicles are generally used at end of line
to handle emplty and full pallets, but may also be used to feed processing
materials into the packaging lines, for warehouse storage operations, etc.
The models in the Auriga line may be fitted with forks, on-board conveyors
(roller or chain) and with special gripping devices to handle specific types
of products. The vehicles are subdivided into 3 standard models, based on
the loading capacity (expressed in quintals):
- Auriga 15
- Auriga 30
- Auriga 45

Computerised control system
Albatros, is the PC-based supervisor developed by Ocme to
handle single machines or more complex packing and/or palletising lines.
The supervisors are intelligent systems for self-diagnosis and control of
machine and complete line functions. They allow for recording and management
of large amounts of data, through the use of databases.

Filling bottles for tomorrow’s consumers
In a literal sense, filling is no more than the task carried out by a
machine that packages liquid products such as drinks or water. Nonetheless,
for modern-day companies, the apparent simplicity of this phrase hides a
plethora of variables and possibilities that embrace all the types of
containers and caps and all the materials used in their manufacture and the
nature of the product to be filled, as well as by no means secondary aspects
associated to productivity, precision, overall cost of the filling
technology and the environmental impact of the production sites.

Palletising and layer froming
