                    System description:

                    The action takes place at high performance PickCenter workstations where operators can achieve pick rates of 400 to 1,000 picks per hour. At the workstation, one or more orders are available simultaneously.

                    The pick-from load carriers (SKUs) are supplied in the right sequence and pace by the STINGRAY Shuttle, this enables the operator to keep working without any interruptions in supply. Finished order load carriers can either be transported directly to despatch, or buffered in the shuttle for later shipment.

                      • TGW conveyor based order picking provides a standardised Person-to-Goods split case picking system designed to guarantee a cost-effective order fulfilment operation for fast moving or bulky SKUs.

                        System description

                        Operators perform the picking operation in zones, which are typically between six and 12 metres long and contain a certain number of SKUs. Guided by means of Pick-by-Light, Pick-by-Voice or radio frequency terminals and in combination with one single order available at any one time, the operator margin of error is minimised.

                        The pick-from positions are designed as pallets, flow channels or shelves depending on the rotation and volumetric of the each SKU to optimise overall replenishment and picking costs. Under these conditions, operators can achieve pick rates of 150 to 400 picks per hour. The order totes/cartons travel by means of a conveyor network through different zones until the content is completed.

                                            • STINGRAY Shuttle System

                                            • The TGW STINGRAY stands out for its particularly high performance and flexibly scalable, modular design. Depending on the required performance, operators may vary the number of shuttles used as well as change the configuration of tote and shuttle lifts. The maximum configuration includes a STINGRAY shuttle on each rack level as well as two tote lifts in each warehouse aisle, thus achieving maximum throughput. For lower performance requirements, individual STINGRAY shuttles can change levels via a shuttle lift, which reduces the number of shuttles needed and consequently the investment costs.

                                            • The twin-mast stacker crane BOOSTER is an extremely lightweight and narrow mini-load AS/R machine. With a maximum height of 5 meters (16.4 ft) it is especially suitable for order picking stations in high performance applications.                                             • The COMMISSIONER is an automatic storage and retrieval system for mini-load applications that incorporates a lifting beam design for optimum volume utilisation and maximum performance. The COMMISSIONER may be installed across a length of up to 10 m (32.8 ft) and can be used at building heights of up to 18 meters (59 ft). It accomodates different types of load handling devices, working as compact and highly dynamic AS/R solution for single- or double-deep storage of totes, cartons or trays.

                                            • The single-mast stacker crane MAGITO now offers the familiar top performance of the Mustang for heights of up to 18 m. A new construction concept for the mast head provides for additional stability, allowing the device to optimally bear the high speed and accelerations. The MAGITO mini-load storage and retrieval device accommodates all standard load handling devices and is thus suitable for all AS/RS applications between 14 and 18 m.

                                              • The Combi-Telescope C is capable of handling totes weighing up to 50 kg (110 lbs) in double-deep shelves. The carbon technology used for the telescope provides for highly dynamic handling cycles. Besides, the double telescope combined with a strap conveyor permits the use of driven conveyor systems in the AS/RS approach zone. Centring flaps guarantee an exact positioning of the load carriers on the load handling device.

                                              • The Combi-Telescope E efficiently stores and retrieves totes weighing up to 50 kg (110 lbs) in single depth racks.                                               • The Spectra load handling device is used to store and retrieve totes in open-face and shelving racks. It is capable of handling various totes and/or cartons of the same or different dimensions as well as loose goods such as machine parts and bags. A great advantage of the Spectra technology is the low height of the shelves, since the clearance between two storage locations only needs to be 30 mm. By using driven pick-up and delivery stations the performance can additionally be increased.

                                              • The Spectra L load handling device is used to store and retrieve totes in open-face and shelving racks. A great advantage of the Spectra technology is the low height of the shelves, since the clearance between two storage locations in the rack only needs to be 30 mm.                                                 • The Pallet Telescope E consists of chain conveyors and telescopic forks, providing for dynamic, single-deep storage of length- and crosswise pallets weighing up to 1200 kg (2645 lbs).                                                       • DescriptionThe Roller Conveyor Multi Pneumatic in lightweight aluminium design is optimally suited for handling cartons and totes of different qualities and varying dimensions. The device incorporates pneumatic accumulation modules which allow for zero-pressure contact accumulation of load carriers with minimum gaps in between, ensuring optimum performance. The Roller Conveyor Multi Pneumatic is the ideal device for applications with high performance and small footprint requirements. It provides for efficient and cost-effective accumulation on a high level.
                                                      • Curved Roller Conveyor

                                                      • The curved roller conveyor consists of recise tapered rollers, ensuring an accurate and smooth curvilinear movement of totes and cartons. The flat belt drive used with this device also guarantees a very low-noise operation. The curved roller conveyor offers first-class curve conveying at low cost.
                                                      • Belt Conveyor

                                                      • The belt conveyor stands out for careful and extremely low-noise conveying of totes and cartons. It can be combined with either a head drive or a central drive depending on its length. The belt conveyor with central drive is used for long conveying distances, its timing belt transmission enables a very quiet and low-maintenance operation. The belt conveyor with head drive is especially used for short conveying distances, it is also equipped with timing belt transmission. Both versions of the belt conveyor can cope with inclines of up to 24°. It is capable of conveying even the smallest goods.
                                                      • Pusher Belt Conveyor

                                                      • The pusher belt conveyor is used as merging or picking belt and permits the mounting of different types of pushers. The conveyor belt has a high transverse rigidity and offers good surface sliding properties. The belt is carried on ball bearing steel rollers that also control the belt run.

                                                        • High Performance Transfer

                                                        • The TGW high performance transfer pairs maximum versatility and performance with optimum safety features, availability and ease of maintenance. A carpet of swivel-mounted wheels either transfers loads of varying sizes between parallel conveyors or diverts them at a 30°, 45° or 90° angle, achieving a throughput rate of up to 6,000 units per hour.
                                                        • Pop-up Wheel Diverter

                                                        • The pop-up wheel diverter is an add-on module for the Roller Conveyor Multi. It is used for diverting totes and cartons onto discharge conveyors (30°). The pop-up wheels provide for a secure low-noise transfer even with small gaps between the products. This diverter achieves a top performance of up to 4500 units per hour and is a cost-efficient solution that requires mimimum control efforts. It is available in single- and double-row design.
                                                        • Diagonal Chain Offset

                                                        • The diagonal chain offset enables an accurate and fast transfer of totes and cartons at less than 45° to parellel or perpendicular conveyors. The transported goods are carried off the rollers by two pusher cams mounted on the chains and handed over to the adjacent line. The diagonal chain offset can optionally be equipped with a guide bar screwed onto the device.

                                                        • The Wiping Pusher is used to gently transfer totes and cartons to adjacent perpendicular conveyors, changing from lengthwise into crosswise transport. A parallel crank gear, operated by a push crank gear, provides the turning swivel movement of the pusher guide.
                                                        • Chain Transfer

                                                        • The chain transfer is used to transfer totes and cartons at right angles to parallel adjacent conveyors.

                                                          The chain transfer may be equipped with a pusher bar, enabling the device to handle a great variety of product sizes

The roller drive is effected by a precision roller chain that engages tangentially with the chain wheels of the carrier rollers and is guided and carried away by means of plastic fulcrum slides. The frame consists of rolled steel frame profiles that are screwed along with the rollers to a torsion rigid frame.

                                                                      • Accumulation roller conveyors in mechanical and pneumatic versions are used for zero pressure accumulation zones of pallets, grid boxes and other load handling items. Through its targeted use, performance fluctuations in plant parts can be smoothed out, revolutions or delivery preparations are carried out and driven flow racks along with other buffer functions can be implemented.

The frequency-controlled drive system allows controlled acceleration, deceleration, and precise positioning. Its quiet operation is an additional benefit.

The chain tracks have swivel bearings allowing the lifting unit to pivot up and down. A 3-position lifting mechanism allows for very simple and cost-efficient alignment processes.

                                                                            • The chain transfer offset is used to transfer pallets from roller conveyors to adjacent parallel conveyor lines. The motor-driven chain conveyor is lifted and lowered by a crank lift gear with parallel guide rods.

                                                                              When the device is inactive, the chain tracks are lowered underneath the top edge of the rollers of the two parallel roller conveyors, providing for smooth transport of the pallets on the roller conveyors.

                                                                            • The chain lift table is an infeed/outfeed transfer element suitable for installations where chain conveyor technology is used due to the bad quality of the material handled. Furhtermore, the chain lift table is used to transfer pallets and hand them over to automatic storage and retrieval systems.

                                                                                  • The fully automatic de-palletising unit - SPLITEX - separates each layer and each package or carton from the pallet and delivers it to the automated conveyor system that feeds the subsequent operations. The SPLITEX combines de-palletising performance with the careful handling of various types of products and packaging maintaining the highest product integrity at all times.

                                                                                    The layer to be de-palletised is positioned by means of a light grid, guided by location stops and raised by a polyurethane-coated grip roller which transfers the layer to a belt conveyor. This belt conveyor delivers the layer to the adjacent conveyor system. The SPLITEX can optionally be equipped with a device that removes the packaging material between the layers.
