| No gearbox required – Due to its harmonic
principle, the belt achieves a gear reduction equivalent of up to 40:1. This
means savings of cost, space and weight—no longer does the gearbox push the
motor out from the actuator (making it vulnerable), as is the case for gear
reducers on belt drives. Useful speed thrust performance – With the
Animatics SM2315DT motor, maximum speeds of 160mm/s up to 650mm/s
(2.5mm/motor revolution up to 10mm/motor revolution) can be obtained with
thrusts from 100N up to 400N
Not limited in length – Ball-screws are limited in length due to
critical speed. The HLD can be several meters long without any such
problems.
No lubrication required – The HLD uses pulleys and a single belt
only. Gearbox lubrication is a thing of the past—no worries about
lubrication leakage, or low temperature start-up (sometimes a problem with
grease filled gearboxes.
High accuracy – Accuracy to +/-0.05mm (+/-0.002”) can be achieved
with the HLD matching the best of the alternatives.
Excellent repeatability – The repeatability of the HLD is second
to none and backlash as substantially eliminated and is consistent for the
life of the actuator - by contrast, the wear in gear-reducers results in
greater backlash over the life of the unit.
No brake required– The 2.5mm/rev HLD units, cannot be back-driven, making
them ideal for vertical applications without needing an additional brake.
Highly integrated actuator – With the motion controller built into
the SM2315DT motor, system integration is significantly
simplified—just daisy-chain multiple axes together and CNC or pick and place
systems can be built requiring little extra hardware.
Simplicity itself – With this level of integration and high
performance, choosing the HLD for your next system can only be described as
a “no-brainer.” |
