Superfine hard boring
Reliance has the capacity to manufacture components in
hard materials to superfine tolerances, for example ceramic insulation for
quadruple assemblies. Components are produced in a temperature controlled
environment with exceptional metrology to control the process.
Machining Capabilities:

- Position and size to 2 Microns
- Hole capacity 3mm to 25mm diameter
- Hole depth of up to 40mm

High vacuum assemblies
Sub-assemblies for quadrupole mass spectrometers, other
ion beam handling components and vacuum housings
Since 1984 Reliance has manufactured components and assemblies for use in
high vacuums. These include sub-assemblies for quadrupole mass
spectrometers, other ion beam handling components and vacuum housings.
- Manufacture of cylindrical rods - in Molybdenum and Stainless Steel.
Form errors less than 0.005mm on 12mm diameter x 250mm long components.
- Diamond Grinding of ceramic materials - diameter tolerance 0.003mm,
hole to hole positional tolerance 0.005mm.
- Helium leak testing - to 10-9 mbar.l/s

the manufacture of Quadrupole Mass Filters (QMF) for mass spectrometers.
Over these years their facilities have evolved into a state of the art

provides a lower cost complete ‘black box’ package, ideal for distributed

Miniature Actuators
Due to their unique miniature size, the linear actuator

Cool Motion Stage Assembly
Intelligent linear motion, accurate positioning, and long
life in a compact assembly
The assembly combines the high speeds, linear accuracy and reliability of a
screw driven linear slide with the intelligence of the Reliance Cool Muscle
integrated motor
The Reliance Cool Muscle motor encompasses an integrated vector drive,
amplifier, H-infinity control, 50,000 count magnetic encoder and a 0-3000
rpm high torque motor into one package.

Gearboxes
Reliance Epicyclic Gearheads for the Cool Muscle Motor
The Reliance Epicyclic Gearheads RGP 40 and RGP 60 are designed to mount to
the cool muscle motor for economical drive solutions in automation. The RGP
series of planetary gearheads feature honed planet and sun gears increasing
input speeds and reducing noise and giving a AGMA 12 + gear quality. All the
gears including the ring gear are hardened, this allows for a high load
ability, less wear and consistent backlash over the life of the gearhead.
All our epicyclic gearheads have four planet gears as apposed to the normal
three.

ScrewRail Actuator Assembly
The ScrewRail® linear actuator includes a precision lead
screw integrated within a guide rail, which drives an integrated nut. This
assembly combines the seperate functions of drive and guidance in one single
coaxial component.
The ScrewRail® eliminates the need for external rail-to-screw alignment and
simplifies the design, manufacture and assembly of motion control systems.
The combined design saves much of the space used by a two-rail system and is
generally less expensive.
