2001 Results
According to the 2001
Middle East International Boat Show (MEIBS) Closing
Report, 15,000 visitors and deals in the
millions made MEIBS 2001 the best edition yet.
The exhibition generated significant
interest from traders and built valuable connections among
trade professionals in
neighboring
regions which will
prove beneficial in time.
Indeed
most of exhibitors participating in last year MEIBS
reported that the event helped them to secure new deals
and meet a range of prospective clients from throughout
the Middle East region and that MEIBS would continue to
grow.

Expectations
2002 MEIBS will bring
existing customers, new customers, the trade, and
commercial/government operators of workboats from
throughout the region.

Exhibitors for 2002 will be from the following wing
categories: boats, boating equipment, engines, drives
& propulsion equipment, trailers, chandlery, sails,
ropes, masts, heating and air-conditioning equipment,
lighting, anchors, propellers, furniture & fittings,
clothing and apparel, navigation equipment & systems,
deck fittings, pumps valves and accessories, communication
& computer equipment, generators & electrical
equipment, maintenance & hand tools, marinas, holiday
and tourism, brokerages, charters, sports fishing
products, diving products, jet skis and products,
windsurfing products, water ski products, repair
facilities, marine coatings, work boats and equipment.
Leading local and international boat and equipment brand
names will be able able to promote their products to a
broader region, confirming thus that the MEIBS is the best
Middle East's Leading Marine Event. It is no surprise that
there are excellent growth prospects for the marine
industry in the Gulf States as the Gulf
Arab states possess over 45% of global oil wealth
and with its strong and developing economies.

MEIBS 2002 Visitor
Promotion for the 2002 event will be wider and will
consist of promotion to consumers, users of workboats,
and the trade. The campaign will include
advertising in over 20 newspapers around the region
(including Gulf News, Khaleej Times, Al
Khaleej, Al Ittihad, Al Bayan, Al Sharq Al Awqsat, Al
Hayat, Saudi Gazette, AlQabas, Kuwait Times Arrayah,
Gulf Times, Al Watan, Times of Oman, Al Ayam and
Gulf Daily News), direct mail throughout the
region to over 100,000 consumers,
color poster
campaign, promotional Wheel Covers on hundreds of
vehicles, radio competition to win a US$15,000, over 30
radio commercials, over 40,000 Free Show Entry Privilege
Passes distributed to marina and water sports club
members throughout the region, over 50,000 promotional
leaflets distributed to retail outlets of
marine
leisure products, over 20,000 exhibitors guest passes distributed to exhibitors to invite their customers,
full page
color
advertising in leading magazines that
are distributed internationally and in the region,
press relations campaign covering over 50 major
newspapers with full supplements in 2 leading Gulf
newspapers and coverage on 3 television stations,
personalized
invitations sent to over 5,000 VIPs, over
10,000 trade passes distributed to the marine trade
throughout the region and to commercial and government
operators of workboats including Police,

success of last year show, the 2002 MEIBS and the VIP

2002 Patronage
Last year MEIBS was opened by His Excellency Ahmed Humaid
Al Tayer, Minister for Communications. MEIBS 2002 will
take place under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh
Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of the Department of
Civil Aviation, the Government of Dubai and the Chairman of
Emirates Airlines.
