Advantech expands range of thin bare-bone fanless system with new EPC-S101

Advantech, a leading embedded computing solution provider, announced the release of its latest thin bare-bone fanless system EPC-S101 with Intel® Celeron® N3160/ N3060, Intel Atom-E8000 processor. Designed with Advantech 3.5” PCM-9310 PCBA, EPC-S101 provides abundant I/O ports, easy function expansion, and flexible mounting methods ready for use in various industrial and commercial application fields.

Thinnest Bare-bone Chassis for Space-limited Solutions

EPC-S101 measures only 188 x 39 x 150 mm, and is less than 1U in height. This slim, fanless system provides 6 USB ports, 4 COM ports (RS-232/422/485), 2 gigabit Ethernet ports, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA, an 8-bit Digital I/O port, an audio jack w/ Mic in, and a line out port. Moreover, EPC-S101 has reserved spaces for a 2.5” SATA SSD with SATA power, mSATA, and a full-size mini-PCIe with SIM holder for multiple expansion. For flexibility, EPC-S101 supports wall mount, VESA mount, and din rail mounting to cope with different application scenarios. With its reduced system size, multiple IO ports, and flexible mounting methods, EPC-S101 is suitable for retail, commercial kiosk, and signage applications, environmental monitoring, and HMI device implementation. The system is small but versatile and powerful, making it suitable for wide range of work and tasks.

Implementing IoT Applications with WISE-PaaS/RMM

EPC-S101 is worthy for its combination with Advantech’s WISE-PaaS/RMM solution. WISE-PaaS/RMM is part of Advantech WISE-PaaS cloud solution, which focuses on remote device management and monitoring. WISE-PaaS/RMM provides centralized management features including HW/SW status monitoring, remote control, and system backup/recovery. It supports server redundancy and hierarchical server management, which increases service reliability and availability. WISE-PaaS/RMM utilizes standard IoT protocols, like MQTT from IBM, to communicate with IPCs and IoT gateways and sensors. It provides a WISE Agent framework for data acquisition from devices, as well as the RESTful API web service, which allows the user to integrate RMM functions with other applications or do further customization. WISE-PaaS highly enhances connectivity for hardware, software, devices, and sensors, and helps customers to transform their business by including IoT cloud services.
