With its new KW-R07 and KW-R17 controller cards, AMK is adding Functional Safety to its line. The TÜV-certified modules enable safe machine concepts up to PLe (ISO 13849-1.2008) and SIL 3 (IEC 62061).

This new drive-based safety technology is tailor-made for integration into AMK AMKASYN KE/KW servo converters. The controller cards provide Safe Encoder Monitoring (SEM) and Safe Maximum Speed (SMS) functions for normal operation. In terms of operating modes, AMK offers the following functions: Safe Operating Stop (SOS), Safe Speed Range (SSR), Safely Limited Speed (SLS), Safe Direction (SDI), and Safely Limited Increment (SLI). The following stop functions are also available: STO, SS1 und SS2.

These functions are controlled via local safety inputs or via the FSoE safety protocol within an EtherCAT communication. The controller card provides three safe inputs and two safe outputs for connection. Commissioning is carried out with the AIPEX PRO engineering software in which AMK has integrated the certified PMT safe parameter editor.

By expanding Functional Safety, AMK is underscoring the trend in the machine and plant construction sector to reduce downtimes by safely monitoring motions.

Instead of time-consuming shutdowns for re-equipping or maintenance, production equipment with current safety functions can be restarted and become productive again much more quickly.
