From 3rd to 6th June 2014 Baumüller demonstrated its service and system solutions at the AUTOMATICA and MAINTAIN fairs that, for the first time, took place simultaneously in the grounds of the Munich Messe. Visitors saw for themselves the wide range of the Baumüller Group’s products and services with which the company can fully support machinery manufacturers and users throughout the entire life cycle. Baumüller provided information on specific solutions for modern automation and on their efficient, multi-vendor service.

Scalable and economical complete systems

On the Baumüller stand at AUTOMATICA the automation specialist demonstrated its broad portfolio of efficient inverters and motors, including control technology and software building blocks for scalable and cost-effective complete systems.

The Baumüller software construction kit is constantly expanding and includes modules for both basic movements such as cams as well as advanced functionality such as Coordinated Motion. With its pre-programmed modules for servo pumps, hydraulic linear axes and servo presses, Baumüller makes the design of new machinery and the retrofitting of existing systems quick and efficient.

In addition Baumüller provides software for improved handling of variants as well as drive dimensioning and the calculation of energy costs.

Decentral for greater flexibility

On the hardware front, the Nuremberg-based company is demonstrating its new b maXX 2500 decentralized drive system, which is a combination of the tried and tested series b maXX 3300 inverters and the robust DSD, DSC and DSP servo motors. This compact drive for powers up to 6.5 kW with integrated electronics has optional built-in safety technology and supports a variety of fieldbus systems such as EtherCAT, PROFINET IRT, VARAN, POWERLINK and CANopen.

Decentral solutions open up completely new machine design possibilities for machine manufacturers because they reduce the size of the control cabinet as well as the costs of wiring and increase profitability. Thanks to a new cooling design the b maXX 2500 can also be flexibly installed in any orientation. Derating is not necessary and the cooling capacity, and thus the efficiency, are unaffected. For enhanced usability, the user also has the option of operating the b maXX 2500 with the practical hand-held controller.

Service without limits

At MAINTAIN service professionals from Baumüller Reparaturwerk provided information from their extensive know-how in the maintenance, repair and retrofitting of electrical drive systems produced by any manufacturer. They also described modern preventive maintenance options that avoid expensive failures and considerably increase the availability of machinery and equipment .

The service provider modifies older machines with its extensive retrofit capabilities to meet the requirements of modern production. In such cases, Baumüller Reparaturwerk’s staff have valuable experience in numerous industries such as power generation, manufacturing, maritime and many more. Machine operators can rely on the service of Baumüller Reparaturwerk over the whole life cycle and can personally exchange ideas about concrete possibilities for their application with the experts at their MAINTAIN 2014 stand.
