New capacitive touch sensors with start and stop functions from ifm electronic

The new capacitive touch sensors from ifm electronic are presented in a compact M22 x 1.5 threaded compact cylinder housing. Therefore the installation in housings with a Ø 22,5 bore is very simple. Dynamic, static and latching functions are already preset.

The new touch sensors can be used for start and stop functions on machines, as enable switch and for opening and closing gates. Dynamic touch sensors detect an approaching human hand and continuously suppress interference such as water, layers of ice or foreign bodies. A gloved hand will trigger them. Static touch sensors detect hands and objects even through glass for as long as the sensing face is covered. This protects against vandalism. With the latching operating principle it is possible to switch the sensor on by touching briefly and to switch it off again by touching briefly again.

Robust and reliable
The sensors operate without wear and are maintenance-free. The housing is resistant to oils, impacts and scratches. It has the protection rating IP 69K and a temperature range of -40 to 85 °C. LEDs as optical feedback signal that the sensor has been activated. The green LEDs can be controlled separately and, for example, be used to indicate the status of plant and machinery. All in all, the new touch sensors are small specialists for a wide range of applications.
