Reducing workloads and saving time in production are the central focus of HEIDENHAIN at the AMB 2016. This includes simple use of data in a networked manufacturing environment, qualified operators and the intuitive operation of controls. HEIDENHAIN shows the TNC controls in action during live presentations on its own stand and in the IndustryArena in the same hall.

HEIDENHAIN TNC controls with Connected Machining permit uniformly digital order management in manufacturing. Connected Machining stands for functions of the TNC controls that support the networking of controls in the workshop with all the areas in the company accompanying production. In this way, the machine operator can use the Remote Desktop Manager to securely implement all the data and information available in the company. This saves time, for example, when the operator can call data required from CAD/CAM applications directly from the TNC control. He can also send feedback to all those involved in the process, for example about cutting data and feed settings subsequently changed in the workshop. The HEIDENHAIN DNC interface enables the connection of TNC controls to enterprise resource planning and production activity control systems, for example for configuring automatic feedback messages about active production processes. This enhances transparency in manufacturing right from lot size 1 and supports on-time order management.

Intuitive operation and context-sensitive support of the operator are the typical features of the TNC controls. At the AMB, HEIDENHAIN will also be showing innovative features for the TNC 620 and TNC 640. New aspects of the Dynamic Efficiency and Dynamic Precision function packages supplement the topic of “Manufacturing with the TNC.” The Adaptive Feed Control (AFC) from the Dynamic Efficiency package of functions not only increases cutting performance in heavy-duty machining, but also significantly improves process reliability, because AFC recognizes when the spindle load is too high and is thus able to prevent damage to the tool and component alike.

The combination of the functions CTC for compensating dynamic position errors and AVD for active vibration damping comes close to meeting the contradictory demands for accuracy and speed. CTC and AVD from the Dynamic Precision package ensure greater efficiency when milling high-quality free forms. The combination provides excellent surface quality and contour accuracy at high feed rates. LAC, the Dynamic Precision function for adapting control parameters according to the load, improves the dynamic accuracy of the axes for any kind of load. In this way, with LAC it is possible to use optimized jerk rates for feed axes on the workpiece side. This in turn leads to shorter machining times because the feed axes reach the desired positions more quickly.
