High performance air cleaners and pre‑separators for railway transportation

air filtration

1,300 Percent longer service life for air cleaners
At the Innotrans trade fair, MANN+HUMMEL, development partner and series supplier to the international automotive and mechanical engineering industries, will present its pre-separation technology for air filtration for rolling stock. The core of the pre-separator comprises cyclone cells which use the principal of centrifugal force to achieve a pre-separation efficiency of 99.5 Percent.

As a result, the service life and maintenance interval of the fine filters fitted downstream can be extended by up to 1,300 Percent. Machine running times are considerably longer than solutions offered by conventional filter systems, which lowers running costs for the operator. The modular and compact design of the cyclone pre-separators also provides excellent flexibility. The product is therefore easy to integrate in almost any installation space and can be adjusted to meet the individual volume flow requirements of the customer. As well as air cleaner systems in combination with an integrated fine filter and pre-separator, MANN+HUMMEL also offers non-integrated air cleaner systems for diesel locomotives where the fine filter and pre-separator are connected via a ventilation duct. They offer a total separation efficiency of up to 99.95 Percent and therefore meet the high requirements of modern diesel engines for locomotives and motive power units.

Typical areas of use for cyclone pre-separators are applications with a high dust load and stand-alone solutions for coarse separation with a separation efficiency of 90 to 92 Percent such as for the cooling and ventilation of electrical assemblies.
