Interroll ConveyorControl – for efficient, reliable and flexible logistics system

Interroll presented its ConveyorControl technology at Scanpack, Gothenburg/Sweden, from 23rd to 26th October 2012. Completing the ConveyorControl range, the new control units help to streamline the management of 24V drive technology for system integrators, plant manufacturers and users.

There has been a striking trend over the past few years towards online shopping – in both the commercial and private domain. According to the latest estimates, online sales enjoyed double-digit growth rates and totalled USD 572.5 billion in 2010. A key element of online sales is the time taken to process orders. For this reason, the use of an efficient, reliable and flexible logistics system is a crucial factor for both customer distribution and returns handling systems.

What this means for internal logistics systems and the various processes used by distribution centres is that every single work and conveyance step has to be reviewed to ensure optimal throughput times are achieved. The entire planning process is affected, from layout, hardware and software through to every other component of the system. The higher the throughput and “track and trace” demands placed on a system, the more precisely the mechanics of the installed conveyor technology have to work. Every single component has to be linked together via smart software into a complex overall system to ensure the whole centre runs like clockwork.

Interroll ConveyorControl: focusing on flexible tote conveyor technology
When it comes to tote conveyor technology, which is a significant and time-critical factor for any distribution centre, this trend has led to an increase in the use of flexible conveyor solutions. A good way to achieve flexibility is to divide a conveyor system into individual zones and segments. This is where the Interroll “ConveyorControl” comes into its own – a smart control solution for zero-pressure accumulation, energy-efficient tote conveyor systems running on 24-volt technology. The key elements of the ConveyorControl solution are its mechanically sound, fast-speed 24 V ‘RollerDrives’ with inbuilt controls that can be linked to existing stock control software. This makes ConveyorControl the starting point for huge energy and time savings in logistics centres working to professional industry standards.
