JAI introduced the GO-2400-PGE, a new small and lightweight industrial camera featuring Sony’s IMX174, a 2.35-megapixel global shutter CMOS imager. The new camera offers a maximum resolution of 1936 x 1216 pixels, while running at 48.8 frames per second over a GigE Vision interface. Power can be provided via the GigE Vision interface or via a 6-pin GPIO connector.

As part of JAI’s popular Go Series, the GO-2400-PGE features a small form factor (29 mm x 29 mm x 41.5 mm, excluding lens mount) and weighs in at only 46 grams – one of the lightest cameras available at this resolution. More importantly, the camera carries the same industrial-grade specifications as other Go Series models to ensure performance in factory environments. These include an 80G shock rating, 10G vibration rating, and a standard operating temperature range of -5°C to +45°C.

By leveraging the IMX174’s deep pixel wells (>30,000 electrons) and a low noise architecture adapted from Sony’s CCD technology, the GO-2400-PGE delivers a signal-to-noise ratio of greater than 60 dB, using traditional measurement techniques. This provides image quality in terms of sensitivity, noise, and dynamic range that exceeds even traditional CCD cameras at this resolution.

Two GO-2400-PGE models are available – the GO-2400M-PGE with 8-, 10-, or 12-bit monochrome output (including near-infrared sensitivity), and the GO-2400C-PGE offering 8-, 10-, or 12-bit raw Bayer color output.

Standard features include a high-performance global shutter with speeds as fast as 38 µs, and a region-of-interest (ROI) function for windowing the field of view to achieve faster frame rates or to utilize smaller optical formats than the camera’s 1/1.2” standard C-mount format.

Other features include pixel blemish compensation and shading correction functions, a built-in 256-point look-up table for gamma customization, and a multi-ROI mode supporting up to 5 overlapping regions within a single frame. Monochrome models also contain a binning function (1×2, 2×1, 2×2) for increasing pixel sensitivity.

The GO-2400-PGE is equipped with JAI’s Auto Level Control (ALC) that combines auto gain and auto shutter capabilities into an integrated function to let users optimize their auto exposure control for lowest noise, fastest shutter, or other priorities.
