Last December Jungheinrich launched a new variation on its ERE 120 electric pedestrian pallet trucks – the ERE C20. This stacker represents a combination of stand-on forklift and low lift truck and can carry payloads of up to 2,000 kilograms. It was newly developed by the Jungheinrich plant in Landsberg (near Leipzig) and is based on two series-production Jungheinrich trucks: the ERE 120 pallet truck and the EJE C20 low lift truck.

The ERE C20 is fitted with an additional mast lift, which has a lifting capacity of 700 kilograms. Contained in the battery compartment, this mast can be used to raise pallets to a height of 752 mm. As Michael Hohmann, Product Manager for Low Lift Trucks at Jungheinrich explains, “this provides the operator with additional options for order picking and light stacking operations”. By lifting the load the goods can moreover be brought to a comfortable order picking height.

Fast Acceleration, Low Energy Consumption

Thanks to its compact design the electric pedestrian pallet truck is highly manoeuvrable and versatile, being suitable both for operations in the warehouse and for loading and unloading lorries. The forklift has been outfitted with the latest generation of Jungheinrich 3-phase AC technology, and the maintenance-free drive motor is precisely attuned to this new generation of stackers to ensure a high level of efficiency. The result is powerful acceleration and low energy consumption. Hohmann considers these factors “the ideal prerequisites for fast and efficient turnover.”

The ERE C20 is further equipped with the ProTracLink. Support system, consisting of sprung loaded and damped support wheels which are linked together via a torsion bar. “This ensures outstanding driving characteristics as well as safe handling, stability and ergonomics,” remarks Hohmann.

The truck is also fitted with a soft sprung, folding stand-on platform which the operator can use to ride along with the truck over short and medium distances. For additional protection of operator, truck and load, the drive system is equipped with the Jungheinrich ShockProtect system: a load-specific spring suspension that dramatically reduces vibrations for operator, chassis and goods – above all when driving over thresholds or up and down ramps. According to Hohmann, “low lift trucks that are equipped with this system are ideal for the safe and ergonomic loading of lorries”.
