Schäffer’s new 9640 T telescopic wheel loaders features new design and Tier IV Final/Stage IV compliance

The 9640 T marks the start of a new generation of telescopic wheel loaders from Schäffer. The successor to the very successful 9630 T has a fresh design and fulfils all the specifications for the emission standard level Tier IV Final/Stage IV. With speeds of up to 40 kph together with the SDCT autodrive (Schäffer Dual Clutch Transmission) and Eco Mode, the machine offers options which were previously unthinkable. With the new SCV-Plus cabin, the machine is setting high standards in terms of driving comfort and ergonomics.

The 9640 T represents a new machine generation from Schäffer. The powerful 100 kW/ 136 PS Deutz motor and the new drive concept ensure power and agility. This is emphasised by the new, dynamic design of the telescopic wheel loader. Compliance with exhaust gas level Tier IV final/Stage IV is achieved without a diesel particle filter which requires a lot of maintenance – a major benefit in terms of operating costs.

With a service weight between 8,400 and 9,700 kg, a lifting height of 5.40 m and a lifting force of 4,200 kg, the new telescopic wheel loader provides the ideal conditions for demanding load handling in large agricultural companies, contractors, biogas plants, in the construction industry, at recycling centres and anywhere where large quantities of material need to be moved. The load-sensing working hydraulic system with 145 l/min capacity is standard equipment, as are the 24 inch tyres and the hydraulic fan. As an option this can also be run in reverse at the push of a button. The fan is cleaned while the vehicle is running – this is particularly advantageous, not only in dusty operating conditions.

In the 40 kph version the 9640 T is equipped with the “SDCT” autodrive. SDCT stands for “Schäffer Dual Clutch Transmission”: This is a dual-clutch gearbox, patented by Schäffer, which combines the benefits of powershift transmission with a purely hydrostatic autodrive. The drive is controlled electronically which ensures that the machine operates at a high level of efficiency.

The 9640 T is particularly efficient in ECO Mode, this is also part of the 40 kph version. During transportation, the motor speed will reduce automatically from 2,300 revs to 1,800 revs – all while maintaining the same speed. This allows a fuel saving of approx. 10%. As well as a further reduction in operating costs, lower noise level and environmentally-friendly operation are further benefits of ECO Mode. When there is a requirement for increased performance, the electronics automatically switch back to the full rotational speed. Depending on the configuration of the machine it can also be used as a tractor unit with a permitted towing capacity of up to 16 tonnes.

Another highlight of this machine is the new SCV-Plus cabin. SCV stands for “Silence, Comfort, View”. With the Plus version, the cabin has been upgraded even further. Even at first glance, a tidy dashboard and ergonomic operating elements give an overall impression of top quality. The joystick is even more comfortable to hold, additional functions makes it easier and quicker to work. The extensive glass area offers the driver the very best all-round visibility. The ignition switch, along with the controls system for the heating system and optional air-conditioning system is housed in a console right next to the joystick. A new airflow concept and removable side panels ensure the perfect supply of fresh air. With the new SCV-Plus cabin the driver has a completely new feeling of ergonomics and comfort.
