The wedge wire filter ScrapeFil is a fully automatic system which is working based on surface filtration. A solid construction is a key feature of wedge wire filters and admits applications under tough conditions.

An efficient maintenance and cleaning system, as well as low investment cost, describe the ScrapeFil filter system offered by Lenzing Technik.

Wedge wire filters are used in a variety of different industries and are suitable for high-viscosity fluids and fluids with high solids contents.

The selfcleaning wedge wire filter ScrapeFil separates solids from liquids, using a filter element with columns extending trapezoidally. The liquid flow runs through the wedge wire element from the outside to the inside, whereby the solid particles are be held back at the outside of the wedge wire element.

The filter fineness is determined by the gap between the wedge wires. For spherically-shaped particles, the filter shows a precisely defined degree of separation (steep filter curve). The filter element provides limited suitability with filtration of fibrous and easily distortable (e.g. gellike) impurities.

During filtration, the wedge wire element is constantly rotated by an electric drive over a reduction gear (9 revolutions per minute). Thereby, the solids are constantly pared off the surface by a scraper plate. This prevents the formation of a filter cake and the associated rise of the differential pressure.
