Series 3 positioning systems have perfected the ability to adjust machine positioning axes quickly and precisely. These electric drives have now been certified for the US and Canadian markets as meeting UL, CSA and ANSI testing standards. Certification will be reviewed and granted by TÜV Süd Product Service GmbH, an accredited NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) testing organization, in accordance with the guidelines of the US and Canadian authorities.

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and SCC (Standards Council of Canada) are responsible for health and safety standards in the workplace and have defined precise fire and worker safety regulations. Testing and certification requirements are especially important for electrical products and machines, which must bear a testing seal indicating that the equipment has been inspected (during workplace audits, etc.).

The complex approval process in the US for machine modules or entire machine lines is easier if relevant individual components of the system have already been tested for compliance with UL/CSA/ANSI standards and have NRTL certification. European EN or IEC inspections testing are insufficient on their own and are not recognized. The NRTL certificate, however, is recognized by OSHA (US) and SCC (Canada).

TÜV Süd inspects halstrup-walcher positioning systems for electrical and mechanical safety, a process that also encompasses the production facilities in Kirchzarten, Germany. Series 3 positioning systems will be labeled with the NRTL seal optionally. This logo certifies conformity with national testing standards on the US and Canadian markets, which is why the seal will also be accompanied by the two country codes going forward.

Positioning systems from halstrup-walcher are intelligent drives with an integrated motor, gearbox and absolute encoder. Units are available with torques up to 25 Nm and satisfy IP protection classes up to IP 68. An extremely wide range of on-board bus communication interfaces (CANopen, PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet, Modbus RTU, Sercos, EtherCAT, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, POWERLINK, IO-Link) makes it easy to integrate these drives into the machine control system. The small drives automatically adjust the guide rail, the tool, the inspection camera, etc. into the new position in the machine process corresponding to the new format. For professional machine format modifications – now easier to integrate for the US and Canada.
