SMC’s new IDG air membrane dryer range reduces costs in manufacturing processes

SMC is offering a simple ‘physical’ solution to customers that need dry air with its upgraded IDG range which has a hollow fibre membrane.

Unlike other air membrane dryers on the market, the IDG range does not use refrigerant or a power supply and can be used with SMC’s regular air preparation units in one single step for applications such as machine tools, measuring machines, semiconductor related manufacturing equipment, powder coating, food processing and packaging machinery.

Customers using the new IDG range can enjoy energy savings and lower running costs thanks to a reduced air purge flow rate of up to 39 (L/min) ANR, which delivers a more efficient air drying process. Such improvements are a result of SMC’s continuous investment in research and development with the aim of refining the performance and functionality of its products, as well as creating new innovations to drive energy savings and deliver competitive advantages for customers.

As a result of this focus, the existing range of -20°C, -15°C, -40°C and -60°C dew points now offers further efficiencies with the introduction of reduced air purge models to the -40°C and -60°C dew points, delivering high performing and accurate air drying capabilities with a 40% reduction in the dew point reaching time. Operating at a -20°C dew point, the range includes a low flow rate tube type that performs outlet air flow rates up to 10 (L/min) ANR as well as middle flow and high flow rate models with performances up to 1000 (L/min) ANR. The IDG Series port sizes are available from 1/8 to 1/2. Other key features include a low dew point indicator, offering visual air drying confirmation; a fitting for purge air discharge and a built-in silencer to reduce operating noise levels offering clean-room solutions and improved safety.
