Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and global leader in machine vision components and solutions, announced that its Piranha4 Multispectral camera and its Piranha XL 16k camera were recognized among the best in the industry by the judges of the Vision Systems Design 2015 Innovators Awards program. The judging panel consisted of esteemed experts from system integrator and end-user companies.

“On behalf of the Vision Systems Design Innovator Awards, I would like to congratulate Teledyne DALSA on their Gold awards,” said Vision Systems Design Group Publisher Alan Bergstein. “This competitive, unbiased program celebrates the most innovative products and services in the vision and image processing industry. The team at Teledyne DALSA should be very proud.”

Teledyne DALSA received two Gold level awards for the following:

Piranha4 Multispectral Quadlinear Camera

Based on Teledyne DALSA’s unique line scan CMOS sensor architecture, the Piranha4 line scan cameras deliver the highest line rates in the industry with outstanding signal-to-noise performance. The Piranha4 Multispectral camera provides independent RGB+NIR outputs using wafer level coated interference filter technology.  In the print inspection industry, many system designers today use one color camera to inspect color images and a separate NIR camera to inspect security inks. This complicates the design and significantly increases the cost of these systems. With The Piranha4 multispectral camera, system designers can use a single camera, dramatically simplifying system design while reducing costs.

Piranha XL 16k Camera

The new Piranha XL 16k uses a 12 line CMOS image sensor to achieve both high responsivity and exposure control in a small form factor. With a max line rate of 125kHz at full 16k/5um resolution the camera can operate in either 4, 8, or 12 line mode using the next generation Camera Link HS interface that delivers over 2 GByte/sec data throughput with a single cable. Piranha XL 16k is the first CMOS TDI camera that offers speed, resolution, and responsivity comparable to CCD Time Delay and Integration (TDI) devices.
