The Plastic West show in Anaheim, CA, saw TM Robotics (Americas) take its first venture into a North American trade show. On display was a Toshiba Machine TV1000 industrial robot in an integrated cell alongside a Toshiba Machine plastics injection molding machine.

Toshiba Machine’s TV1000 6-axis robot offers fast cycle times thanks to a low mass design, yet the machine also exhibits excellent rigidity and durability. The robots are also exceptionally easy to program.

The easy to use TV1000 has a total arm length of 1000mm (39.375″), a reach of 1090mm (42.9″) and a composite maximum speed of 9.61 metres per second (31.5 feet per second). It has a maximum cycle time of 0.6 to 0.7 seconds, repeatability of ±0.03mm (a thousandth of an inch) and a maximum payload of five kilograms (11 lbs). It is controlled using Toshiba Machine’s new TS3100 controller, which is programmed in SCOL, a language similar to BASIC – as are all Toshiba Machine industrial robots.

The TV range of robots can be controlled using Toshiba Machine’s TS3100 controller that has the option of a teach pendant for easy access outside the robot cell. The TS3100 features a built-in Ethernet port, making conveyor and vision synchronization simple. The controller also includes the built-in TCmini PLC, which allows control of I/O equipment, regardless of operation and program.

Destroying an urban myth

Those of you who regularly attend trade shows will be familiar with exhibitors announcing that they have taken orders on the booth. In the vast majority of cases, what they mean is that are announcing an order they have already received – usually long before the trade show came around.

Well, during Plastic West, a customer came to the TM Robotics booth, was so impressed with what they saw, they bought the exhibition configuration on the spot! And, that is not a myth!
