At Materials Handling Middle East in Dubai, general contractor and global player Unitechnik is showing automation solutions that are intuitive in operation and easy in maintenance. The company’s particular focus  is on systems for the foods and cold chain logistics segment.

Unitechnik established their own offices in Dubai in 2007 and is well-versed in the needs of the market in the Arab world. “The easy operability of the logistics installations is particularly important in terms of efficiency and competitiveness. Our customers also make sure that their logistics partners – like Unitechnik – have local service technicians,” explained Hans Christian Ettengruber, Managing Director of Unitechnik FZE in Dubai. The German intralogistics expert also is increasingly implementing autonomous systems in the Middle East to design and direct the flow of goods. One recent example is Emirates Airlines. Along with the other systems used as part of an expansion of the airline’s flight kitchen in Dubai is an automatic guided vehicle. This automation solutions system conveys handling units automatically to the individual work stations where they are, for example, cleaned or stocked and loaded with meals.

Yet another requirement for automated systems for the Arabian region is flexibility. The systems must be able to be adapted to changing circumstances – such as when there is a change in tenant or an operator’s new business model has an impact on the flow of goods. This is the reason why all Unitechnik designs are multi-functional. With the right refrigeration technology foods or pharmaceutical products can also be handled and transshipped safely, as needed. The UniWare Warehouse Management System from Unitechnik also offers digital proof of a product’s uninterrupted cooling chain.
