Vanderlande has been awarded an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract for the existing terminal at Al Maktoum International DWC in Dubai. The company has built up a solid reputation in the Middle East as a reliable partner with the successful execution of several site-based service projects in recent years.

As a result of these developments, Vanderlande has been awarded the O&M contract for the existing terminal’s baggage handling system. The 33-month agreement is deployed on-site by an experienced team of 11 FTEs (full-time equivalents). They carry out operations and maintenance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

State-of-the-art tools, such as Mobile SCADA, Hosted BPI and EYE4U (real-time video-based helpdesk support) will be installed and used by the team, ensuring the highest rate of system availability. The airport’s Maximo (enterprise asset management system) will be used for BHS asset maintenance. A 24/7 Vanderlande hotline will also provide additional support.

Roland van den Bergh, General Manager of Vanderlande’s International Customer Centre, said: “We are very proud to supply round-the-clock services for Dubai’s Al Maktoum International. Our overall aim is to ensure that this baggage handling system is running reliably to meet the stringent performance requirements.”

Al Maktoum International is at the centre of the Dubai World Central urban development. When complete, the airport will have an annual capacity of 16 million tonnes of freight and over 200 million passengers.
