For some time now, Tübingen-based precision tool specialist Walter has enjoyed significant market success with its Paradur® HT tap range. Previously available in dimensions M4-M36 and M10×1-M33×2, Walter is now expanding the range of Paradur® HT taps to include dimensions UNC 1/4-UNC 1. The new HSS-E taps are particularly well suited to cutting deep threads of up to 3.5 × DN. And just like their predecessors, they feature straight flutes, axial thro’ coolant and a TiN coating.

Their specially designed cutting edge geometry affords excellent chip breaking, even in long-chipping materials. The axial thro’ coolant reliably flushes the short chips out of the blind hole. Ideal for machining ISO P materials with a tensile strength of 700-1400 N/mm² (200-410 HB) and for ISO K materials, especially for GJS (GGG). The new tools offer a number of benefits for the user: “Birdnesting” is not an issue, which translates to incredibly high process reliability – a boon for production using minimal manpower. Paradur HT taps are also ahead of the competition when it comes to cost-effectiveness and performance, with significantly reduced machinery stoppage time due to excellent tool life, process security and chip control. According to Walter, these taps are typically used in the energy sector and in general mechanical engineering.
