Company Profile
The KAPPA company was established in 1991 as a Ltd. company. The management of the company has many years experience of the air industry. The entrepreneurial activities were opened in the beginning of nineties, for the reason of bad situation on the Czech air industry. The first its production were metal construction and the installation of the technology. The profit from this production has allowed to start up with the own air activities
In 1994 the development of the new UL aircraft KP 2U - SOVA was started. The aircraft was draft as a basic model of the unified set of planes with the evolutionary potential. The development of the basic UL model was finished during 22 months and its first test fly was done in May 1996. It were built three prototypes - two for the fly tests and one for the strength tests. The first public performance hold in June at Jihlava Aero '96, where the aircraft obtained The First price for the best exhibit and than The first place at people's inquiry. In April 1997 the aircraft was presented at Static Exposition in Friedrichshafen at Aero '97. There is the biggest European exhibition of the general aviation there. Lots of specialists were interested in this plane at exhibition. Since a new construction and technology has been finished for the serial production.
In June 1997 a "daughter company" KAPPA 77,a.s. was founded, where the KAPPA, Ltd. invested the project KP 2U and delegated the air activities. In September 1997 the aircraft obtained the type certificate by the UL-2 regulations from the Air Amateur Association of the Czech republic. After the participation at the International Engineering Fair in Brno, which passed off in September 1997, the aircraft obtained The Price from Economic newspaper - MSV BRNO 1997. At the same year the aircraft KP 2U obtained the First price in - "INOVATION OF THE YEAR 1997 ". In June 1999 the aircraft obtained the German certification and the certification of the kit in USA, which was approved by FAA.
Aircrafts were delivered to Netherlands, Germany, Italy, USA, Ecuador and to the Czech republic.
