Company Profile

Minnesota Electric Technology, Inc. (MET) was incorporated in 1969. Privately held until 1972, the company went public and Kato Engineering Company became the majority stockholder. In 1980 former Kato Engineering Company President, J. Peder Kvamme, purchased the stock. The Kvamme family continues to lead operations.

MET has always manufactured Permanent Magnet DC Motors. Every motor is built according to Customer specification. The motors are designed with software written by the Engineering and MIS Departments. Product drawings are CAD-generated applying geometric tolerancing techniques when appropriate.

Production equipment and methods are the best available and are designed to meet the special needs of the Customer. Employees from a dedicated labor pool receive ongoing quality assurance education. Regular training schedules of operations and procedures are maintained.

MET motors are shipped to five continents including: Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. Due to a broad customer base, MET motors will be found in applications such as: Automatic Guidance Vehicles, Floor Cleaning Equipment, Hydraulic Pumps for Army Tanks, Over-The-Road Refrigeration, and Railroad Crossing Gates. Additionally, they may be operating: Automatic Skeet Throwers, Coffee Makers and Grinders, Door Openers, Frozen Yogurt Machines, Salt and Sand Spreaders, Solar Water Pumps, and Wheelchairs.
