Masterflex AG from Gelsenkirchen is a specialist for customized product and system solutions of special high-tech polymers for industrial and medical applications. It focuses in particular on the development, processing and optimization of the promising material of polyurethane (PU). Under the heading Advanced Polymers, polyurethane encompasses three divisions.
One of Masterflex's corporate business goals is to research the manifold applications of polyurethane and convert them into new customer-oriented products. In doing so, the Company makes use of the most advanced development methods to optimize the properties of polyurethane and test it combinations with other compounds unimaginable to date.
With this ambitious goal, Masterflex AG has built up an enormous knowhow in polyurethane since its foundation in 1987. Masterflex has mastered the entire production chain. From the practical use of the material via the development of inhouse production processes and self-built plants up to production and distribution.
Its competence and numerous innovations have allowed the company to set new worldwide standards for high-tech hose systems. Today, Masterflex is one of Europe's leading suppliers in Europe. Numerous international patents underline the company's outstanding position in its field.
International expansion began early. The first foreign subsidiary was founded in France in 1991. Today, a total of five subsidiaries produce and distribute high-tech hose systems in Europe and the USA.
Masterflex also applies its knowhow of special high-tech polymers to the search for new application possibilities in the field of medical technology. In this dynamically growing market, the high-grade compound of polyurethane is constantly gaining in importance. Masterflex offers hospitals, clinics and cardiology centres customized solutions in the fields of anaesthesia, cardiology and radiology. In medical technology, too, Masterflex's look is directed into the future. The company applies its knowhow to numerous joint research projects for the development of new uses, e.g. in spinal cord anaesthesia, surgery and ophthalmology.
Masterflex's third division Innovative Abrasion Resistance, also does pioneering work. Pipes and pipe bends are the Achilles heel of pneumatic conveyor systems and particularly prone to wear. As the first manufacturer in the world, Masterflex offers a patented solution based on polyurethane. This allows extending the service life of pipe systems by a multiple in comparison to traditional methods.
The development potential of polyurethane is not yet exhausted by far. Masterflex AG will continue to apply its competence to successfully open up new application areas in the future and convert them to customer-oriented product and system solutions.
