In 1945 William Carls, born in Osnabrück/Germany, founded Numatics Inc. in Michigan/USA. The young company's target was to develop innovative systems for controlling compressed air. In 1952 there was the breakthrough with a pneumatic valve, which did not need any flexible seal elements.

Today Numatics is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality pneumatic valves and accessories with 1,200 employees worldwide. In 1964 Numatics Inc. founded its first facility abroad: Numatics GmbH in St. Augustin/Germany today responsible for production, design, R&D, marketing and sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa with subsidiaries in GB, NL, F, I, E and H.
Numatics has become a pneumatic full-line supplier distributing pneumatic valves, cylinders, electronic control units, air preparation units and accessories, today offering a complete range with more than 30,000 products.
