Company Profile

Rimoldi Necchi is respected throughout the World as the market leader in the manufacture of high quality, precision sewing machines.
With branches in the USA, Great Britain and Brazil and a network of over 70 agents, Rimoldi Necchi gives unsurpassed access and service to the global making-up industry.
Rimoldi was founded in Milan in 1881 by Virginio Rimoldi, and initially produced cup seamer sewing machines for furriers.
The company gradually grew from its small craftsman's workshop origins, and as time passed new models of machines slowly came into being.
The various stages of success: the complete range of chain-stitch heads
Production of the first overlock machine, mod. ZA, started in 1938, and since then various generations of overlock heads have been launched on the market right up to the present Vega F27.
In 1952, the first flat bed machines were produced, followed by the cylinder bed machines and later by the feed-off-the-arm machines, thus completing the range of chain stitch machines.
The launch of the automatic machines
In the meantime, around 1970, development of highly automated products started, i.e. automatic units and equipped work stations. These machines considerably simplify the operator's work, whose task consists of simply loading the semi-finished garment.
Recent developments
In the 1980s, the Gemini heads were introduced, workstations consisting of heads for sewing two seams at the same time on two sides of a semi-finished garment; new models of multi-operation machines for just-in-time production were also launched.
During the last few years, the company has aimed at developing the Flexsystem line of products, modular sewing units which may easily be transformed and equipped for new production needs using suitable customizing kits.
In 1993, Rimoldi became part of the Necchi group and was entrusted the Necchi line for producing lock stitch machines.
