In 1968, the founders of MasterCraft had a dilemma. They weren't happy with the boats available on the market for ski school use. So they decided to build their own.
After completing the first MasterCraft in Florida, the group moved its operations to a small farm in Tennessee, and the legend began.
The boat was an instant hit--so much so, in fact, that other ski enthusiasts were soon requesting MasterCrafts for their own use. The fledgling company invested the money earned for one boat and used it to buy materials for the next. A manufacturing building was built on the farm, and MasterCraft had its official start.
Over the years that one building grew into many, and in 1998 the company celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a homecoming at its headquarters in Vonore, TN. Although this state of the art facility has been home to MasterCraft since 1994, the spirit born in the original one room shop lives on there today.
Today, MasterCraft is the ski boat leader and is making inroads into other areas of sport boating with its MariStar line of recreational runabouts. More than three decades after the original MasterCraft made its debut, the company's goal remains the same - to continue building the world's best ski boats and sport boats, year after year.
