AASI believes that the design and light weight composites provide improved consumer performance benefits and safety margins, including spin resistance, increased lift, and improved ride comfort. The JETCRUZER does not require additional pilot licensing beyond that required for single piston engine complex aircraft such as the Piper Arrow. AASI believes its aircraft are designed and engineered with performance enhancements that increase cruising distance and fuel efficiency and thereby lower operating costs as well as maintenance costs when compared with similar single and twin engine aircraft.


After thousands of hours in flight and static tests, AASI obtained a Type Certificate (TC) from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its model 450 single engine propjet aircraft in June 1994. The time it took AASI to reach this first phase of certification was streamlined dramatically and first flight of the 450 to receipt of the FAA certification was only one year and 10 months. Because of its strategic location in the heart of the southern California aerospace industry and from downsizing in defense throughout the area the company has recruited many of its management, design, development and construction team members from individuals that worked on military and airliner projects. These include the F117, F22 and B-2 stealth aircraft, U2's, and SR71's and from Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Northrop, Hughes and other aerospace manufacturers. This unique combination of past military and airliner experience and management under the direction of AASI's Chairman and CEO, DR. Carl Chen has added to the shortened time and low cost of certification to produce a high performance aircraft at a very low price.
