Gdañsk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa S.A. specialises in ship conversions and repairs, the design and construction of ships, offshore units and steel structures. It is one of the biggest European shipyards. It forms an industrial group (Remontowa Group), which consists of 24 companies, 6,000 employees and over 4,000 co-operants.
In the world rankings, Remontowa S.A. occupies a leading position in the number and deadweight tonnage of repaired ships. In 2000 it was classified in first place in Europe and seventh in the world. Every year, over 200 vessels from all over the world, are repaired and converted at Remontowa. These are mainly ferries, tankers, container carriers and RO-RO vessels.
