Hong Leong-Lurssen Shipyard is one of the premier shipyards in Malaysia, specializing in the design, construction and maintenance of custom-made vessels for the defence and law enforcement agencies.
Initially set-up as a joint-venture between the Hong Leong Group (Malaysia) and Fr. Lurssen Werft of Germany, a world-renowned leader in fast patrol boat construction, the Shipyard is now owned by Hong Leong Industries Berhad, Permodalan Nasional Berhad and Fr. Lurssen Werft. Today, through an internal restructure, the shipbuilding and ship repair business is entirely spearheaded by Hong Leong-Lurssen Shipyard (1992) Sdn. Bhd.
The Shipyard is located on a strategic 13-acre land near the river mouth of River Prai, Butterworth Penang. Besides enjoying good accessibility to vessels plying the Straits of Malacca, the availability of modern syncrolift and transfer system ensures that the necessary docking capabilities are in place for a larger number of these vessels.
