Company Profile

Astilleros Braswell International, S.A (ABISA), was incorporated in Panama in 1991 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Braswell Services Group, Inc. based in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. The Braswell name has been known internationally since 1972 for fast dependable ship repair service. According to the April 2000 issue of the UK monthly magazine, Fairplay Solutions, Astilleros Braswell, S.A. is credited with being among the most active players in the ship repair market on the Pacific Rim coast of north/south America. In addition to its world-renowned status, Braswell has a worldwide marketing network and agents in place to attract the international market to its facilities.
The Panama Canal has long been known as one of the world’s most important waterways and now Panama plans to take advantage of its strategic geographical location and become a world class multi-modal transportation hub as well. Some of the world's largest shipping and port companies are providing the region with unprecedented capital investments that will ensure the country’s strong international maritime presence. ABISA, as the country's renowned ship repair facility, has identified strategic partners and plans that will enable the company to expand its current Pacific operations and open the highly coveted Atlantic operation. Once completed, Braswell will increase its already strong industry presence thus positioning the company as the foremost provider of ship repairs and maintenance in the region. The projections for making Panama a transshipment hub for the region, call for continued increases in ship transit and container movement across the Canal, which equates to a greater need of ship repair facilities on both the Pacific and Atlantic sides of the Isthmus.
