Company Profile

Kiva Networking was founded March 1, 1996 when The Herald-Times, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schurz Communications, acquired InterSource, a Bloomington, Indiana based Internet service provider and networking company.
With solid Indiana roots, Kiva grew quickly. Today Kiva provides technology services for a wide variety of businesses and consumers from seven Points of Presence in central Indiana. They have increased their geographic coverage area, bandwidth, available services and staff by more than 400 percent since 1996. In conjunction with exponential growth, Kiva also has built and maintained one of the most powerful wide area networks in central and south-central Indiana serving thousands of clients.
In late 1998, Kiva broke ground for construction of a SONET fiber optic loop connecting Indianapolis with Bloomington, Martinsville, and Columbus. This SONET loop will allow the company to sustain continued expansion as a regional Internet provider as well as to provide bandwidth to various businesses and telecommunications carriers in need of large scale connections.
With the backing of The Hoosier-Times (formerly known as The Herald-Times, Inc.) and parent organization, Schurz Communications, Kiva Networking will continue to grow and serve the rapidly changing technology demands of today's marketplace.
