The aesthetics of classical sailing-ships and the love for wood inspired Helmut Dick to the boat building.

In january 1994, Helmut Dick built up his new shipyard at Scheerhafen, Kiel with three colleagues. The location at the top of the exit of the Kiel-Canal and the entrance to the Kieler Förde makes it possible to sail directly form the shipyard to the sea.

Up to now Helmut Dick, in cooperation with technical designers as P. Gottwald-Yachtdesign, PLOT Yacht Concept and G. Nissen, built several wooden yachts from 21 to 50 ft.
The "Ravell 42", constructed by Peter Gottwald-Yachtdesign, is getting much attention at hanseboot and is well praised in several boat magazines.
