In 1858, a small factory in Sursee (CH) started to produce clothing. 1941 marked the official establishment of the CALIDA brand by founders Max Kellenbeger and Hans Joachim Palmers.
In 1946 they started to produce women's underwear, and in 1954, men’s underwear. In 1956 CALIDA started the production of tricot nightwear - a real innovation.
1996 was the start of the licensing agreement with Joop! for women's lingerie.
In 1987 the family business became a public corporation. And between 1970 and 1990, they experienced a strong growth in sales.
CALIDA was listed on the stock market in 1997 with earnings of over 8 million Swiss francs. In 1999 Sales volume exceeded 200 million Swiss francs for the first time.
The Just Feel seamless line was successfully introduced in 2000. They also ended the licensing agreement with Joop!, with their goal being to put more focus on CALIDA's core business.
In 2001 the success of Just Feel continues with the introduction of a men's line (Just Feel Men) and a line of primarily cotton garments (Just Feel Cotton).
