The Crombie story began 200 years ago, at the time of the momentous Battle of Trafalgar. Whilst this historic conflict was in action in 1805, so an enterprising young Scotsman, John Crombie, was setting up his first woolen mill at Cothal Mills, just outside Aberdeen. It was at this very earliest stage that John Crombie laid the foundation stones for what has today become a world-renowned brand, synonymous with excellence. Specializing only in the finest cloths, John Crombie rapidly earned an unsurpassed reputation for quality.
Crombie became part of the Illingworth Morris Group in 1923, now one of the largest vertically integrated woollen textile company of its type in Europe.
