Company Profile

The year was 1895; the city was Rome, Italy -a poor but very ambitious gentleman named Giuseppe Mattucci decided to open his first custom tailoring shop in the heart of Rome. As years passed Giuseppe Mattucci earned the reputation as being the finest tailor in central Italy. He moved on to tailor custom-made suits to some of the most important people. In 1934 his son Guido Mattucci joined the company and together they built the reputation needed to stay alive in such a delicate period of poverty and political instability.
In 1939 Giuseppe was put to the test by the ambassador of Japan. His request was for Giuseppe to make him a custom made formal jacket and pants in the color black. The well-known tailor’s reputation was on the line. Giuseppe met the challenge by offering to make his suit by hand with white thread and promised no thread would show.
In the early 50’s Giuseppe’s grandson Giuseppe II (Joseph) came on board. In 1955 the family decided to move to America. Guido, his wife Maria and son Joseph opened their first shop in Hollywood.
They went on to building a very fine clientele which also included Cary Grant, Elvis Presley and back then Governor of California Ronald Reagan and many others. In 1990 Joseph’s son Aurelio Mattucci decided to join the now fourth generation company. He saw all the efforts made by his grandfather in making some of the finest garments and formal wear, so he wanted to follow the ideology and expand the dreams the family had strove for. Present day...they are now manufacturing formal wear in Italy and distributing it throughout the US.
